also @D1rtJumper, a couple of comments ago you were unaware of where the trail went. I proceeded to inform you, so I'm going to assume that's not sarcasm being used.
the only reason, and i mean to ONLY reason this got POD is because of the scenery... good landscape picture, but terrible biking picture... i just gotta know, who is choosing these PODs? (seriously, who?) I mean c'mon, the rider is only halfway in view and it's too zoomed out to be an interesting MTB photo.
infiltrator, the last couple of pod's have been great, yet everytime i click on the photo i see a negative remark by you. Maybe if all these POD's aren't up to your standards, why aren't you getting pod?
you're missing the point, this is a biking website! so what if none of my photos get POD, i'm not claiming that i should be getting POD, or that i'm an amazing photographer, but i do know what makes up a "good" MTB photo, this is not. GREAT landscape shot IMO, terrible biking shot
I think true mountain biking is something thats been lost in mountain biking lately. All Downhillers, myself included, prefer to ride set up trails whith pre-made jumps so we can just go, and ride, and be on balls out adrenaline. However, this kind of mountain biking is where the sport is supposed to take place. Its a shame really that these kind of trails; hidden away in areas of unparraleld beauty, are being ignored in favour of built trails that offer just the ride. Which, don't get me wrong, I love also, but I also loved climbing a mountain, sometimes carrying my bike, and feeling like I've achieved something when I got to the top, and drooling over the ride back down. I, for one, need to start doing proper mountain biking again.
Hes is probably riding a set up trail. Looks like it might be Bone collector or 420. I could be wrong, but there are many "pre-made" trails in Savona. I don't know where you got the term "true" mountain biking from. The sport has undergone evolution, pedal, climb, shuttle, take a chairlift, however you want to slice it. Mountain biking is a lifestyle as far as I am concerned.
Hmm, I didn't realise it was a track, apologise. Yeah, it is a lifestyle, but I meant just pedaling up a hill. It just seems to be something that isn't as popular as pure downhilling now, (by that I mean either shuttling or chair-lifts to the top). Then again, there are something like 15 downhill/mountain bikes sold to every one road/bmx now. It is by far the most popular (not slating road or BMX of course). Around here it has, anyway.
That is absolutley mega-epic,and it will deffo be in the top 5 POD's of the month for July. It's an amazing image, the scenery is stunning, the detail is spot on,and the riding loox sublime, nice one CCVL. Gringo.
I'm not complaining, I only wished it was a bit cheaper to leap over the ocean and ride my bike in Canada. + I already have 2 jobs mate
A ticket to BC costs me almost 2000€, that's 2500 USD and that's the ticket only. So all the passes for bikeparks etc. Hostel, food are extra on top of that.
