@ Weasal01 The reason why this is POD and yours isnt is because this actually demonstrates some serious camera skills, using off camera flash, panning for the blurred background etc. the suggestion you made did not demonstrate these skills, its the kinda shot that looks like it was taken by a 12 year old using a compact point and shoot. Ok the terrain is gnarly but thats not what gets POD, POD is reserved for shots showcasing great camera skills and riding skills.
This photo is great in my mind. The only thing that could be improved would maybe be to touch up the bit of lens flare on the top of the rear tyre and riders leg. however I think the photographer has done well to get this low a level of flare when shooting straight into a powerful flash.
I'm just saying, And I don't post on Pinkbike you can check my flickr if you wish. I'm just stating plain and simple that there were better shots that could have been pod today. People just seem to love flash's in pictures though
the flash like hurts my eyes. Im just curious. why do so many freeriders wear a skate helmet with goggles? like why not a full face? i think it looks wierd.
or you could just look and before commenting think how hard it would be to find 365 incredible, non-dissputable, and not used before photos every year. The POD is not a magazine cover. It's a cool photo of someone biking, that you probably would not have found otherwise. Instead of bitching, go ride your bike with a friend and get a better photo.
^^ The bike IS really small! Haha, we had to take some pics for the brodie blog and this is the only brodie we had; it's my 6' brother on my wife's S bike! Here's the blog: www.brodiebikes.com/blog/?p=473#more-473
i'm pretty sure the blurred branches in the back was not intentional, especially with where you have your flash positioned, but that's not to say i don't like it tho
Its POD because 1 person deciedes. Ive seen pics wth tens of 'POD' comments not reach POD, yet 1 shitter that Mr PB likes gets it. Clever huh (not) Sort it out PB!
almost no shopping on this one, just some colour adjust and sharpen, same as everything else. but hey, if you don't like it that's cool, i'm surprised it got POD too given that Rampage just happened! (I'll take the POD though!)
Agreed, terrible shot. Just like yesterday, hardly anything going on, and the composition wasn't too flashy either. Lift your game Pinkbike. This site is going downhill (pun not intended).
Do you realize that almost ever photographer photoshops their pictures. This picture is probably photoshopped, but so are countless other pods that still look amazing. The shop is amazing by the way.
well he took this picture so he would probably know haha
he was panning the camera across as i rode by, so i actually dont know how the wallride isn't blurred.
you can use a slow shutter speed to get blur (trees), and this allows enough ambient light in so that the background isn't totally black (this was taken in very low light in late evening). Then, when you add in a strong and brief flash, it freezes the motion where it lands. That's how you get blur AND sharp edges in the same picture, straight out of camera with no photoshop funny business. Seeing how everyone and their mother on PB is a pro photographer (apparently) though, I shouldn't have to explain this.
