Well this is before and after in the wrong order, surprised the file was saveable but the original was with my exposure meter telling me the "correct settings" for the mist....

Ah right. You can shoot RAW in full auto? Surely that'd be a lot easier since RAW doesn't store any settings so to speak. Or am I completely missing the mark?

yup and nope it means depending on your camera you may have to do loads of post which when you need them to be with clients within 3-5 hours it's just not convenient

I was shooting manual charles, I exposed for the foreground and it gave me that, an image full of missssst.

ahh ok how are you checking exposer? in camera meter or firing then checking the picture?
  • 1 0
lol, in camera. I know how to work a camera and it never ever leaves the little M for manual Wink

sometimes it's nice to leave M. It feels naughty, but somewhat pleasurable... Wink

Haha, change pleasureable to lazy and less stressful and I will agree with you Razz

i know a photographer who shoots on shutter priority, which makes sense as you can sometimes forget about what iso your on (but it seems sacrilidge(sp))

everyone gets so hung up on the whole manual thing. we've got cameras that can virtually see in darkness thanks to increased ISO ranges. is that 'cheating'?

In my eyes, you get a camera, you stick it in your hands and you get a photo out of it. how you get the photo out of it is up to you. yes, by all means, master your camera and understand how to manipulate light then this will give you a better understanding of what you will see when using a priority mode. granted, it's a fraction slower when not in manual but again modern cameras are slower by milliseconds, faster than you can see or actually make your mind up!

at the end of the day when I see a killer image I don't think "hmmm, I hope that was shot on a manual mode otherwise it's not a proper image" and neither, in my opinion should anyone else.

That's well saved! Looks sweet. I'm not to fussed about how people take photos, if they can compose nicely and even attempt to be unique then that's fair game.
