it'd be a gutting time to realise you have a name tag stitched into the back of your boxers lol
  • 3 3
I think there is an offset flash set on the speed camera, the middle of the flash is too far to the right for it to be a real flash from the camera.
  • 1 3
yeah, i recon your right. it'd be impossible to time too
  • 3 0
The flash bulb is offset from the camera lense to prevent reflection from the license place going straight into the camera lense and obscuring the characters. Same reason SLRs have high flashes that flip-up, no red eye.
  • 1 1
yeah, thats right. but that flash isn't coming from the camera box!
  • 2 0
Correct, it's coming from a side flash mounted on the same pole. I just explained the offset thing.
  • 1 0
yeah dead on. i've seen footage of guys setting the traps off, but you'd just never get the timing right with that kind of quick exposure! still a cool setup tho
  • 1 0
The exposure doesn't need to be fast, I've done plenty of night photography. The exposure can be several seconds, all that matters is the flash is very brief, that's all that is required to get a blur-free image.
  • 8 1
Wait a minute, this is most certainly faked Wink

there's no way you can sync the timing of you taking the photo with the flash on the camera going off. They can go at speeds of 1/200ths of a second. Human reactions are 1/5th of a second

or did the flash of the speed-cam make enough of an image?
  • 5 1
I would guess he took a sequence of pictures and picked the nearest.
  • 4 2
Yep your right, i just took a sequence of shots.
  • 2 1
how long do those flashes stay on for?
  • 2 1
About 1/1000th of a sec. But if you have a shutter speed of 1/50th (like the exif says), then you have lots of opportunity to get it in the shot.

Also, if you look at the EXIF then flash did not fire, so it's most likely real!
  • 2 0
EXIF Data doesnt show up external flashes unless used with the canon built in system, which nobody uses.

Just sayin that the flash wouldn't have gone off whilst he was there on the Speed Camera. It would have been after the road markings. Also there's a flash from the side, so to time the side flash, and the flash of the speed camera would have been pretty impressive. Really cool shot though. Great ingenuity. Really funny!
  • 2 0
Did the photographer simply put his remote flash on the speed camera itself? That's how i would do it. Gives the same impression.
  • 1 0
The photographer could have used a second long exposure and gotten this shot. If you will all note, everything you can see in this picture has been illuminated by the flash directly or my ambient reflection. The short flash length would prevent any motion blur, so there is no reason to think it's fake.

For the attention of people overseas, if you don't know what that thing flashing is, it's a GATSO Speed Camera used by the Police/Government, to catch out people speeding.
  • 7 2
That's a cracking shot Elbry m8,deffo POD worthy, simply for the comedic value. And the fact that it's a good clean, well timed shot.
Ha-ha nice one Elbry,ya should have had a builders crack showing, the pigs pic of that would be fcuking priceless.

It really doesn't matter if this is real or not, this is excellent and should be POD.
  • 2 1
haha nice, just be gutted if the photographers face is in the photo. You can actually get fined for speeding on a bike, and points will be put on your driving license if caught Wink .
  • 3 1
alex no one cares what the bloody make of the speed camera it is lol most likely a radio triggered flash placed on the roof next to the speed camera.... cool pic
  • 1 1
haha well I thought the same as what you said (a radio triggered flash), but it's still a good shot ent it!!
