at 35 pounds stock it doesnt have to be good looking props to kona sick bike

you can't see it, but the front brake line, in zip tied to the fork lower on the other side so it will not snag and send you into the bushes.

Alot of thought clearly went into this frame...Replaceable pinchbolts, long wheelbase, tapered headtube, the onlything holding me back from even considering looking into riding it is that it's just so damn fucking ugly.

cant really judge a bike on its appearence....maybe a lil on component spec but you really cant judge it till youve shredded on it for a day

I actually like it! though that hydroformed downtube looks like it may interfere with front wheel travel!

Does anyone else think it looks like the headtube will just shear off with the slightest impact? There doesn't appear to be any headtube gusseting.

Yeah I agree, it looks quite fragile in that area. Would be quite sad if their new bikes start cracking like some of the older models.

Really? I'm not sure they tested them, since headtube failures seemed to be the most common problem with pretty much every single Kona frame for the past few years. You'd think they'd test and remedy the problem, but no.

You want evidence? Kona has been making DH and FR bikes with the same style of headtube junction for years, and yet year after year the headtubes shear off. They never remedied the problem.

Honestly, My best mate/Boss knows Kona's rep in Australia, and he has told us that everything on this bike has been overhauled. that includes Head tube junction. Its a different bike with different geo, different Alloy and everything, lets give it at least a test ride before we start bashing it just because its a kona... thats all i'm saying.

they have definetly been tested, and tested in Whistler sooo.... im sure that the headtube is fine!

there stronger than stabs and stinkys and there trying to rid themselves of the name kona "snapalot" so i doubt they will snap allso would a coumpany witch bikes snap all the time offer a lifetime warentee on there 2010+ bikes if they were prone to snapping? no so they should be good. thats why im getting one. plus they look damn sexy and for the money the speck is mint.

.... I dont care if kona changes their geometry or frame shape as long as they have that pivot bar that is a mile long i am staying away from them

i think the proto will actually ride better. This production model looks like the rear suspension won't work as well as first thought, the back end is too long and the actuall link itself will put leverage on the frame instead of the shock. Whereas the proto, the seat tube is closer to the back wheel and it will have a plusher ride. In saying all that, the bike does look lush

i meant the rocker link was too long. it looks like the leverage would be wrong. its probably me just being a douche and imagining stuff :$
