shorter wheelbase is better for types of slow speed off road. longer wheelbase is better for going fast off road more stable , better drifting , front and rear tyers are not on the same bump at the same time as much with a LWB which is better. a example of this would be www.bowler-offroad.com/NAV1.htm look at all the long wheel base rovers and if you read the history page they talk about the longer wheelbases being better . This tacoma is a bad offroad example because its lifted to much , it would offroad better without the lift
Tacoma's don't have ridiculously long wheelbases for trucks. Name me a better stock vehicle in regards to the combination of Bike/Snowmobile/Dirtbike carrying without a trailer, off-road ability, gas mileage, and reliability. Try carrying 6 bikes and 6 people in a Jeep or Landrover! The beauty of the Tacoma is how utilitarian it is.
Those bowlers aren't "long", they're only 105, that's short compared to something like that Tacoma. Sure it would go UP a hill fine, good like getting over the crest at the top though
the bowler has a 106" wheel base , this tacoma has 122" wheel base , i wasnt trying to compare them . my point was longer wheel base for high speed off road and shorter wheel base for slow off road . it all depends on what type of off roading you want to do . if i wanted a short wheelbase to go over a crest id go buy a suzuki samurai , if i wanted a long wheelbase to go fast i would get a tacoma
