this is hugely different from an MX bike, so hardly a real comparison. In DH areas where there aren't uplifts, most people have to push their bikes to the top, not ride, so the 'pedal under your own power' argument falls apart. If I could get 6 runs in a day with this bike riding to the top compared to 2 runs where I have to walk up, this bike has some appeal. And Tail-whip, don't try and tell me you can pedal your Session 7 up all the NS trails, Woodlot and Burke.
All this is is a bike that helps you a little but when pedaling back up to the top of your local DH run. You guys should all know that a bike which pedals well uphill usually isn't that slack and fun for going down, so this lets you have a bike with DH geometry for fast riding, with an assist which makes you actually willing to pedal back up. It's not trying to re-invent the DH bike, AM bike, or MX bike. Calm down y'all.
what is our sport coming to?? seriously this defeats the whole purpose of mtbing. its sad to see bike companies making bikes to "assist" our pedaling. just sad.
I GUESS THIS IS ADIFFERENT CATEGORY.THEY DONT WANT ACTUALLY TO REPLACE THE BIKE TO A MOTORASSISTED BIKE.THE POINT OF VIEW IS REPLACE ONES MAIN MEANS OF TRANSPORT LIKE A CAR OR A MOTORCYCLE TO THIS AND PLUS GIVING THE PLEASURE OF DOWNHILLING???
Stu, Nope, the cranks are on a "freewheel" system, so the motor is assisting through your pedal stroke, not pushing your legs around. It still freewheels just like a regular bike.

PEDAL POWER. Cardiovascular Endurance. You gotta ride uphill before you can ride downhill. Let's try to keep the mainstream from ruining our sport and our bikes.
