Just use an old hub and some metal hose clamps that sinch down. I cut the flanges on the hub so it would sit tight on the bar behind the seat. The hub needs to be nice and snug or else this wont work. Then just get a $4 bag of mini bingi's to hold the wheel on the bars.
You don't even need a front hub. Just pick up a bolt-on 20mm mount for securing a bike in the bed of a pickup truck. It'd definitely be easier to mount to the back of the motorcycle, too.
i was thinking of doing this, but think it might be dangerous? any insight? at speed, the littlest bit of wind effects a motorcyles stability.. adding anything to the motorcycle would mess with the stability.
plus is it even legal to drive with a mountain bike attached to your motorcycle?
Pfffffff your kidding right. This thing works like a charm, absolutely no issues with towing and you cant even tell when riding and turning. Keep in mind you body and motorcucle is blocking the entire bike of wind anyways. Plus Im pretty sure that if this is safe www.tiny-house-living.com/images/little-guy-rascal-motorcycle-teardrop-trailer.jpg then youll be fine pulling a 30lbs bike
i own a motorcycle and have the side packs and i can feel a drastic difference between when they are on or off. you are right but, what if there is a side wind? shurely it will effect you. i may just have to try this. i travel on the freeway alot and if this work, it will make my life easier.
Ahhhh, on the freeway I dont think it would work. Well it would, but the bike might bounce around on the rear tire. I doubt the wind would do much, biggest thing is I dont think its exactly "legal" I just use em on that 50cc for around town stuff.
If the dude riding the motorcycle goes down the motorway and that bikes got a loud click on the rear hub, he's gonna get some angry bee that's at the pitch of a Cris King (be an GNARLY sound though)!
Okay, so pumped. Now I won't have to beg my girlfriend to loan me her car so I can go to the jumps. Only thing is...I have a 15mm axle, so I'm going to the hardware store to look for the right internal diameter pipe. Also, I have no clue where to attach it, since I don't have a welding machine or grab bar.

I have a ton of designs drawn up over the past few months, but I guess I will jump into the rear wheel trailer design tomorrow. It seems to be the cheapest, and I can just slap a BB support beam on there to get the wheel off the ground when I can afford to do so.
