Unfortunately, this bike will be history soon. I suggest you keep your money for another brand. Evil is in deep shit right now due to warranty issues they have with guess what? The revolt. I'd say it is very risky to buy one of these...
Well, i was at first interested by the revolt. Then I've read a lot about it and looked for potential problems with that frame. Seems like people are having issues with their linkage/axle/bolt. Again rumors you will say! Maybe... Also heard Evil have financial problems due to their return rate. Take it or leave it. I'd say you should wait a bit b4 getting one and see what happen with the company and existing customers.
oh wow... looks really bad! :O thanks a lot for the information! never heard before about the problems, only how fun it is to ride!!! So, it's the same like the "Sunn-frame", I think?! because some people loved the frame and hasn't some problems, and other people told about problems, because the frame broke!!!
too much linkage.. a bike should be simple and effective.. aswell as easy maintainance and little moving parts.. i loved the frame.. i disliked all the linkage.. its a shame,.
Honestly, the Revolt problems are blown way out of proportion. The 09 had a few seat tube cracking issues... then they added the brace. Still on the first gen frames we had the main pivot shear like in the pic above. That was due to a weak alloy I've heard and has since been changed. The dog bone links that cracked have been beefed up now. I'm pretty sure all problems have been addressed.
As far as I know... the main hate towards Evil arose from the time early this season. The factory producing the frames had massive quality control issues... people where left waiting half the season for their frames because Evil refused to send out these potentially problematic frames. This is about the time people got fed up with waiting and the rumor mill started to pour out "issues."
thats the reason why the invented prototypes..! and ride those.. improve them to perfection.. and THEN sell em.. not make money on peeps who wanted to ride.. like the legend MK1.. tested and brought out the improved legend MK2.. (not that mine came without problems.. but @ least those werent design flaws..)
I agree, but to their credit, they were pretty quick to address issues. I've heard only 60 frames got produced without the brace before they quickly fixed it.
Better than what can be said about one of the biggest bike companies out there. I don't know how many specialized Demo 8 and 9 frames cracked, but it was a lot. (Talking about first gen with the ribbed shock area) Yet they never fixed it... they attempted to fix it from the first year. It did help a bit but they were still notorious for cracking. Guy I bought my Demo 8 off of had a brand new frame off warranty cause he cracked his old one... I hardly rode the bike and sold it a year later. Within a month the guy contacted me asking about warranty cause he had cracked the front triangle.
At least Evil was quick to provide fixes... Specialized never did fix anything. They had to design a completely new frame years later to solve it. Although I will say that Spec was prolly better with warranty. Evil isn't very willing to shell out new frames... they are very quick to warranty small pieces though like bolts, links, etc..
no but listen catrefully to yourself.. spesh didnt fix it .. but did gave new frames.. i heard if i ever crack mine (6year old demo8pro) i would still get a new one.. cause they know the flaw.. but with the attitude.. first break it then well see.. evil does not replace your frame but only small parts.. althoug they fixe4d the problem.. they did not solve it for their customers.. thats lame.. spesh solved it better imo..just like you say /?./
so if you would have to choose between the 2 .... who would you choose.. ?
I think it's apparent who I would choose if you look at my profile. For the record, I do agree with you about the warranty being crappy for the frame itself on Evil. And if you look at my post, you obviously missed the first 2 words where I said I agree with you about the prototypes.
They will warranty it though, it just takes them a while. It's also only a 2 year frame warranty. They are way above average in warrantying small parts, and below average for frames. haha
You are contradicting yourself with the prototype thing though... going by your views, Spec should have never released the old Demo frames since they couldn't stop massive failure rates. It took them like 4 years to solve the problem.... that's pretty bad. Evil has been quick to fix everything. If only they had better warranty....
God I really hate to say I don't like stuff on a picture of an Evil Revolt (pretty much my favourite frame of all times) but I don't like the saddle and the bars are in a weird position(IMO)
Yes, you do. But will you see Kyle Thomas driving the same van with a new team wrap in 2011 is what I'm saying. I know some specific details that just are not appropriate for the internet at this time.
