so your gonna hit this drop and im gonna breath fire all over you and your not gonna be able to see shit and you might get slightly burnt or bail...but for that second of air, your going to look totally badass.
Yes FregoS, there was a fireball POD a long long time ago. Just like there have been PODs with downhill riders hitting berms over and over, or someone doing a tailwhip over and over, etc...etc...
@luke-smith there is no risk in doing what he is doing, as the flame is a fast burning but low heat flame, which will only burn the fuel (paraffin or ethanol most likely) and doesn't have a chance to set fire to the rider or bike. The same if you spray your hand with deodorant and set it on fire it doesn't hurt at all because it burns the deodorant not you.
I would guess it pretty controlled and there's quite a lot of safety prep/equipment hanging around. I think you'd be much safer doing this with such a lot of planning goin into it rather than a big huck or road gap in the middle of no-where with a few mates watching, regardless of what protective gear you have on....
the fuel fire breathers use only burns as a vapour, when it lands on a surface and collects it becomes a lot harder to ignite. that is the biggest reason why this POD works so well.
Excellent pod but Luke has a point, you could argue that a pro is experienced enough to know what protective equipment he wants to wear in the same way these guys know how to use fire (hopefully). The helmet rule is mainly to stop kids copying them I'd imagine, which makes this pretty much the same. Anyway, this health and safetly malarky is stupid, if you are retarded enough to hurt yourself whilst not wearing a helmet or setting yourself on fire then you pretty much deserve what you get...
@luke, by your logic, anyone posting anything that is beyond someone else's ability is dangerous, not safe, and should not be promoted because potentially someone may attempt it and they are not ready for it. Any photo of someone sending a large jump is dangerous to someone else. So we could all take your logic and not post any photos EVER, or we could assume that most riders ( except you apparently) can decide what is and what is not safe for themselves.
hey radek, nice talking to you but common now, that's farfetched. I was talking about pod-appropriate material, how it correlates or even conflicts with the no helmet rule and was "questioning" your choice on this particular pic and nothing else. However, I stick to my guns but want to apologize for my harsh language I used, I had a ruff and f*cked-up day. So all I can say is that I gladly would accept a debate about that in the forum if desired.
when you get to about half way when reading all the comments, people run out of ideas and copy everyone else's... sick photo, i give props for doin that
radek - hahahaha, gold! Essentially, that would cause the internet - and quite possibly life as we know it - to implode upon itself. We're doooooooomed!!!!
Great shot!!! But no way is it as dangerous as many people think here and I would do it if I knew the breather. I have done this (as a fire breather, not a rider). As many have pointed out, the flame is highly likely to be ethanol or paraffin (we used to use paraffin); it is the basic fuel used by performers who work with fire. A fire breather can send out a spray of fuel that will take the flame from the torch you hold out in front of your face and burn it out instantly (as it burns only the vapour off). Any large drops of fuel will not ignite. If you pass through the flame (as in this great pic) especially at high speed, nothing you are wearing will catch fire (unless you have soaked it in petrol or something stupid!) or even get very hot. You will proabably only lose some hairs off any skin you have left open to the elements!!! So wear gloves and a helmet. We used to regularly soak toilet rolls over night in paraffin, bind them up with gaffer tape and string and then play volleyball with them the next night. Now there's a game!!!
-dude are you sure you want to do this...? Its like.... fire youknow..
-Oh totally man. I am like... Fire retarded you know. And my balls are always sweaty so my spermy things won´t like... cook or anything. I saw it on the Mythbusters thing
The other Shots in the album show him no gloves and In shorts :\ More I look at this pic more I actually think he is crazy and hope was alright or photoshopped.I like the other pics not on fire to be honest.I still think hes Brave but it does make me Cringe a bit. I seen people jump by/through Fire Before but not to this scale. Deffinately has the shock factor for the Halloween though.
it probalby won't be necessary. it's the same thing of passing your hand on an candle. if too slow it burns. too fast and you won't even feel the heat. besides they are just "playing" or if you prefer .. being a litle bit recless
"it's getting hot in here so take out all your bikes, it is getting to hot in here I'm gonna jump through fire" ahah KICK ASS PIC MAN.... POD ALL THE WAY!
PIC IS DEFINITELY SIK !! I'M DEFINITELY GLAD THE GUY IN THE BACKGROUND USED A "FLASH BOX" ... I DON'T THINK I GIANT BALL OF FLAME WAS ENOUGH LIGHTING !! STILL SIK AS HELL !!
