Blake is hippin to land just to the right of the lit tree, Martyn has hauled arse in, launched up the bank, and rode out down the edge of the bowl to skim Blake' s wake. As you see it was frickin dark...which proved interesting for me...and exciting for the boys! Glad people like the shot
despite all the fucked up retards saying it's not pod worthy, or its photoshopped, I think it is very pod worthy. i dont really see what is wrong with the photo, other than the fact that it takes a while to figure out. this pic makes me want to find a good spot and try shit.
I built this too!!!! lol. Was much bigger as its been knocked down by the not so skilled. Heres my first attempt at jumping it after building it all day
Some pretty rad action is going down I reckon - I believe the fact the shot hasn't got arrows directing the viewer to what's going down can go either way as to whether you enjoy it or not. Wish I could frickin ride like that!
It's called an opinion. Learn to respect them. I think it looks bad, doesn't have any flow, nothing artistic about it. Doesn't make me want to go out and ride. It just doesn't stir anything in me.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to disagree with it. In two short sentences you have managed to completely contradict yourself, impressive.
If you are going to criticize somebody's work, it helps to have something constructive to say. You have, however demonstrated some of this in your ridiculously pretentious reply to me, so I guess I'll let it go.
I'm struggling to comprehend exactly what you mean by saying the picture "doesn't have any flow". Purely out of interest, what sort of shot demonstrates this?
In terms of flow, I meant how the picture guides your eye gracefully through the shot. The composition should be pleasing to the eye. What "sort" of shot demonstrates that... any well-composed and framed shot, I would guess.
I was going to apologize for being a bit too negative with my initial comment, but you, having shown yourself to be just as pretentious as you claim I am, kind of soured that idea. No hard feelings.
In my humble opinion the shot is pleasing to the eye. The contrast of the almost lunar landscape with the two harshly-lit riders creates an image that stands out from the thousands of similar photos we see every day. Perhaps there is a little bit too much dead space in the bottom half of the picture but that helps to demonstrate the size of the hip Blake is hitting.
I've made my point, you've made yours. We can agree to disagree. Apologies for being argumentative, not having a good day. Happy Trails.
Good work guys - you brought it back rather than blowing it up.
I agree with some of the points here, the dead space I believe is required to tell the full story and size of the riding, however, due to the fact this is shot at dusk the terrain is kinda lost here.
The shot was unused in the MBUK article it was shot for so I knew it was flawed, just thought it a shame to die unseen on my hard drive.
I've been looking at it some more and it doesn't seem as bad as I originally thought it to be. I guess it's just not in my taste. *shrug*
It's very crisp, though. I'll say that much. Congrats Rob on the POD, to Rory - I feel you. Hope you guys have some rideable terrain out there. It's all ice and snow here in Moscow by now.
and becides, it's about the picture and it's quality and whatnot, not as much about what's being performed, POD is meant to bring respect to both riders and photographers, not just the rider
