POD Photo of the Day on Mar 26, 2011

Selected by Ian Hylands - I was questioning this photo as POD for a while, not because it doesn't deserve to be POD, but because it was on the cover of Dirt. I was thinking maybe it wasn't as fresh as it could be. As I stared at the Dirt cover though I realized that they had gone straight for the action and cropped the bottom off the shot. I happen to like the bottom of the shot, I like the green tree root in the leaves, I think it really adds to the balance of the shot, and Dirt took that away. So here it is, the way that Lunatyk shot it and intended everyone to see it...

Sick riding, not so sick photography - i think the lighting could be better. composition is good though. Perhaps a real wide angle shot from the bottom of the jump would have looked better though. It's a good photo but it's not at the top of the game like the riding.
