Super sick bike man Salute One of my favorite frames! How tall are you and what size is the frame? Im 5'10" and reckon I'll be a medium. My LBS will have a demo for the Podium in 2-3 weeks, I'm mega stoked to give one a spin.

How does the thing ride? I know it has the Horst, wonder if it rides similar to Spesh's FSR. The shock's 9.5x3.0 correct?

Im about 6 foot and i ride a medium, feels perfect. It's a really stable bike, with a very aggressive geometry. On the steep stuff it is the most confidence inspiring bike i have ever ridden. It's long and stable, but still feels nimble and maneuverable in the tight corners. It's super predictable, and very, very stiff. It does use a 9.5 x 3 shock.

Appreciate the reply. I just wanted to be sure on the frame size if ever that demo Podium isnt gonna make it in the shop Frown Its not a super immediate project but I wanna get it right off the get go.

I was looking at the geo and on paper, the med is longer than the already long '11 Spesh Demo. Ive taken a Demo for a parkin lot spin and its nice and low, felt hella lower than my Sx Trail Eek which is good in my book btw. So I was thinkin since Im a lil shorter maybe a small might work for me. Ive tried a Marin Quad XLT, their 180mm freeride bike and the small felt perfect. Im always a medium in most frames but maybe quite diff. in a Knolly...

Is there a difference you think with the Spesh FSR vs. Knollys four bar design?

how do you like that chainguide ?
  • 1 0
i have only taken it out on one ride, couldn't hear it, and it didn't drop my chain. Seems to work beautifully.

 how about friction ?
  • 1 0
what friction? it has less then any roller set up i have had. The design is taken from MX bikes. No roller wheels to get clogged, or bent.

cool Smile thx I was wondering about that Smile

it is the best chainguide ever. can't be fouled by mud/grit, will never ever drop your chain, and looks amazing. nice bike too, it looks sick

 clips? ooohhh
  • 1 0
haha, yes, clips. If used properly can be great.

i hear that the back wheel maneuverability is greatly improved, but if you crash you are phuked
  • 1 0
yeah, you can be phucked if you bail, but usually you can unclip fast enough. and if not, they do come undone under a certain force. I have never had an injury specifically caused by my clips.

i could see the uses really coming in handy for AM riding on those almost trialsy sharp turns but thay have gotta be downright scary on legit dh (i bet ur moto-whips are epic though)
  • 1 0
I ride the steepest trails around the shore, all over cypress, whistler, anything and everything on my clips. lots of big jumps, i like to huck a bit too. I haven't had flats on my DH bike in years.
  • 1 0
its almost natural to unclip when you crash once you get used to it
  • 1 0
idk with my experience with road bike clipins (practicing trackstands at red lights/stop signs and falling/failing), i better stick to platforms for mtb.
  • 1 0
hahaha, maybe thats a good idea!
