watermark is there for copy protection... if you see the rider, you see my name. Get used to it, coz it's here to stay.
  • 6 2
yea i understand.. but why cant it be in the corner like every other picture? not saying its a bad thing thats its up there. just, in my opinion, bad placement..
  • 23 0
because them ppl crop it out & don't credit me... now if you see rider you see my name. Sux, but I credit every rider, I make a point of finding their name & I don't always get the same in return. Hope that puts things in perspective.

"last POD comment from Mr shockabahala, sweet shot Eric. Over & Out!"
  • 7 3
the placement is the whole point... as eric says, if you see the rider you see his name. The watermark isn't in the corner of the photo where those that wish to re-use it can simply crop it out. To be honest, in an awesome photo like this the last thing i end up looking at is the watermark!
  • 7 0
ok, that actually makes sense. thanks for clearing that up, i never even thought of that. great picture though!!
  • 5 0
yes, and now i get it too! you are a great photographer, and i guess for some reason that was the first thing i saw. as i looked through your other photos, and thought about it more, it doesnt really look that bad.

 Thanks, glad you understand.

Sorry I disagree. There is a hundreds great pictures around where authors will put their logo/watermark in the corner not worrying so much about credit to them.
Why would you put it in the centre of the attention? - it spoils the photo which I think is great (apart from the watermark position).
You do not go to the National Geography photo exhibition and watch those amazing shots with watermarks all over the place.
  • 11 0
You Sir are allowed to do whatever you like to your own shots... as am I.
If you disagree that's cool, I'm not here to please the world, I'm here to get exposure & this is pinkbike, not the Nat Geo Exhibition, just a tiny difference is you cant copy paste from a wall, but you can on the net. I personally think my last watermark was more intrusive & distracting than this one even though I put it in the corner.

Yes Sir, we are allowed to do as we like and to say what we think. If someone wants to copy paste they can still do so - 5 min in PS and the watermark is gone..... Anyway, good luck with your photo carrer dude.
  • 12 0
yeah, fair enough, but you & I may find it easy to remove it in 2 seconds. The average person can't & is more effort & a bit more difficult than cropping. I can't stop ppl copying my work, but this is the best effort I can make without covering the entire rider & ruining the shot completely.
Thank you!

 Sick pic , POD!!!

Great shot, its good to see someone riding for mongoose
  • 7 0
thanks, mongoose is sponsoring the series. Theo just picked up a Giant sponsor & is on a glory
  • 2 5
to be honest I think it looks better than the ones in the corner.
  • 1 0
nice pic man! props to photographer!
  • 2 3
Don't love the watermark on the rider - but your photo dude so whatev. I understand. It'd be cool if you tried to blend it in more and maybe match the colors to the rider. Rather than just throw it on there. Still protect your work without it stealing the attention. Guess you can't do that if you are posting thousands of pics. Personally I'd just prefer looking at a shittier photo from an amateur without BAM advertising front and center than a pro shot where you get advertising before you can even enjoy the photo.

Super sick photo man, wish I could take pictures as good as this Beer
  • 4 3
Watermark location prevents this from a fave...too bad, it's a great shot
  • 2 1
chris is not like its THAT bad.. sorry to everyone if i started this, i just was wondering about the placement, because i didnt even think about the crediting, and people copying his work. it doesnt really take away from the picture, its just kinda there. once you can learn to look past the watermark, like i did, then you can enjoy the photo for what its really worth. and im sorry you would rather look at a shittier photo just to not deal with the watermark.. and its not like its advertising.. hes just stating that this photo is his, and doesnt want people to steal it. i learned to deal with it, and so can you. cheers.

 Sweet shot, not pod though

i agre like its good but not that good

 agree

I think its pretty smart that you decided to place the watermark somewhere where you'd get exposure. However..I'm not sure if you chose the best spot to drop it in. It feels like its interfering with the riders leg, maybe move it up just a bit so there would be no competition between the two for priority or move it completely to the other side. Just a little critic on placement.
  • 1 0
I have no problem with a photographer seeking exposure, and he can do what he wants. Personally, I think it clashes with an otherwise great shot. An ideal solution could be to place the watermark somewhere in the shot where writing is already present (number plate, jersey, bike frame). It wouldn't conflict with the picture so there would be no reason for anyone to remove it, and it would have anyone looking at the rider see the photographer's name.

Fantastic shot Eric! The sun lighting up the dust as the rider lights up the trail! love it!
How can we go about getting hold of a copy of the shot without the mark? Are you asking for royalties or just acknowledgement when the shot's are used by others to promote things?
  • 1 0
 Hey, thanks man!
I need to make money off my work now. I've spent the last 3 yrs shooting, learning, improving & promoting our local scene. I feel my work is now where I wanted it to be to start earning a living off it. I sell the shots to the riders for next to nothing (so they can have posters for their rooms etc.), but otherwise the price depends on what you want to use it for.

Is it the effect of the lens or does that look like a 650b (27.5") front wheel?? The space between the fork bridge and the tire looks awful close. ...
