Selected by Ian Hylands - This photo has great light and great color, I really like the way the green and blue go together. There's also some good riding and a full moon, all put together in a nice little package. If I was going to be super critical I would wish for a little more space above the rider, but I don't think that wrecks the shot in any way...
I don't know. I am not really feeling it. The take off and landing seem to pull my eyes to the edge of the shot and then off it. And I can't really put my finger on it, but the placement of everything in the shot some how seems off to me. Its a cool shot for sure, but not really POD worthy IMO.
@zorba73 How am I to know the guy is English? There is a union jack next to his name, not the flag of St. George, therefore, as far as I'm aware he could be from anywhere in Britain.
But.. if you look at his profile it says he's from Cheshire. Also, people from Scotland, Ireland, N.Ireland and Wales all have their own nations flags. The English are the only Brits not to have their own nations flag to fly on PinkBike! I've raised this point before but no one listens. I'll start a forum on the subject and try and get this travesty addressed. And if that doesn't work I'm gonna riot.
I was only joking guys keep your nickers on! (I said baseball because what other ball looks like the moon? and don't be a *ag and say a softball) Tough crowd........
ohhh if he were only on the upper right third... that frame would definitely benefit from some more space above him and to the left of the tranny... aside from the comp, still a banger shot though! well lit, great moment, very unique with the moon, and excellent colours! Thx for the eye candy!
Hang on. I think sexmachine is making a fair comment.
I personally couldn't do better. But whilst it is a rad shot and deserving of POD. There are improvements that could be made, better use of the rule of thirds for example as mentioned by sexmachine. Ian even mentioned about more space above the rider.
I completely agree with everything sexmachine said. Especially the good bits.
I thought he was taking the mic out of Ian at first, haha
Personally I think the rule of thirds is way over used and in an action shot like this, not really important. In fact its kind of getting annoying how its included in almost every POD description... maybe its just me.
I like the shot by the way, my only criticism would be that the rider looks a bit over-flashed.
Yeah I should probably start talking about other rules of composition as well sometime soon, but they're all based loosely on either the rule of 1/3's, or phi which is golden section. Almost every rule, scratch that, guideline that we have is based upon those two...
