Selected by Ian Hylands - There is something fairly magical about riding through an old mossy west coast forest, and this photo really captures that. Great shot, and I love how the framing and composition really accentuate the trees soaring up into the sky...
That's what I was thinking too. The ISO must have been too high, seeing as the terrain is pretty dark/forest, but with a shutter speed needed to capture the rider, it would have been wiser to run a flash setup, or some sort of lighting. Compensating with a higher ISO just made it grainy!
Too bad too, since the angle and shot is actually very nice!
Haha, im surprised its only being noticed now. And yeah, in order to get the 1/1000th to freeze Joe, I had to jack the ISO all the way up to 6400. next time, going to bring the beauty dish out with me, going to be amazing.
Oh don't worry, I noticed... LOL I'm just slow to open pinkbike in the morning and I never really comment! haha joking, but its a good shot man! Like you said, bring some dishes/lighting whatever is needed next time, for round two, and post it up!
This pic is awesome...but as Ian said...the trees are awesome....reminded me a NatGeo program trying to capture a photo of a gigantic tree (i know in spanish are secouya but don't know in english sorry) but it took the guy like a year to be able to capture the tree....and now seeing this picture really gives props to the photographer to get a photo like that nicely done....
i love how the rider is emerging from inside the trees, with the overgrown moss on the trees and roots, simply amazing. The only thing that could be better is if the shot was taken slightly later so you could see the rider more.
to the POD on may the 27, 2011 i said that i like the picture in my words and i got neg propped.... sooo...
this picture has a nice angle.. and the trail looks awesome... i like it and think rider and photographer did a good job...hope i don't get neg propped now... whut ever your problems are..
I read this and went to see what your profile looks like. Then I noticed that you pretty much never say anything positive. I guess your just a person that wants to complain about everything.
It's "you're", not "your." Not trying to be a d*ck but if you are going to run a respectable outfit, you have to act the part. The same can be said about many articles that are posted daily by this site. PB is a joke, tailored to serve a ~12y/o audience.
Well biking and building trails makes me feel 12 years old again, so pinkbike is doing it right. And rewster, if you're gonna hate, take it somewhere else because you sucking all the fun out of the room. Sic POD!
