Selected by Sterling Lorence - It's all about the effort in trying something new here. Many locations that we choose to try and record mountain biking, are easy to be and access. This is a cool angle, even if it failed. lessons learned....failure makes for a better photographer. I won't get too into the technical weaknesses, but will add that choosing longer focal lengths can help reduce the amount of optical distortion that warps the scale of the two wheels...
i looked as this shot on the homepage and i was like cool? a pod of just a bike? and then i enlarged and i was pleasantly surprised by this POD. so sick.
Yeah yeah would of been cool, but i just couldn't have the shutter speed that high because when we was taking it the light wasnt that great Still think it works well though I still think it would work for a bike advert ha x
Thanks for the comments everyone!! So stoked with getting pod!! Was a bit of a shame that the rider is not in complete focus, as the lighting conditions was pretty poor. So i had to use a slowish shutter speed (1/400) and a death high iso (2000) haha. Was really fun taking this shot though!! Ryan's such a sick rider too!! Big thanks to him for being in the photo!
Think it's a great photo- well done for being brave and getting so close... What the Sterling Lorence said about the POD though: "I won't get too into the technical weaknesses, but will add that choosing longer focal lengths can help reduce the amount of optical distortion that warps the scale of the two wheels..." hmmm... It's a fish-eye lens, the great thing about the photo is that it IS distorted, fish-eye gives a unique perspective- and it works in this photo, doesn't matter it's slightly blurred either. So aye, great effort but shame the person choosing it had to say that!
Nangle!!! Sweet as bro!
CaarsoN and Grib...Ryan has a sick new set of 2011 Tweet 28's on the way from Germany as we speak. Wait till you see the build he spec'd for this year. But sorry...no more mis-matched wheels.
