And yet there's still endless wars over which tire rules the planet... ha ha

www.pinkbike.com/photo/3350918 This photo is basically the same situation. I have no clue how this happened!

wow he must have more money then me , I could not afford a new rim for the sake of pushing my bike

Id say he's still racing. If he had a bunch of money to waste he wouldn't have saved a tire that costs less than the rim he's rolling on.

 Oh snap

If he was racing, WHY would he stop to remove the front wheel to get the tire off?

My vote is for more money than me.

Guess someone needs to track him down and ask him WTF!?

Im now going to have to switch my theory to "He's had a shitty day on the mtn, and NOTHING else matters except getting to the bottom and getting a beer."

That's what I'm rollin with now.... Cuz I've had those days!

mabey he has less money then u and could not afford a front tire or tube and the tire around hiim was just one he found?
  • 2 0
 Yeah. That must be it.

have you tried to go fast on a flat front tire. Its sketchy! The rim is abit easier to ride one not much, but better. Props
  • 1 0
Hell, even a rear. Usually racers just cut em off and go, but I would have either saved the tire as well, or simply pushed off to the side and cheered with the crowd.

Ah. A race like the enduro of nations I think is a multi stage and day race. You`d have to keep going. Hopefully make up time at a stop or the next day. The racer did the right thing , threw that tire on a back up rim and lived to fight again. It would be hard to stay motivated with something like that though.

Crap, never even thought about it being a stage race! That makes sense. Just gotta get to the next stage and then go from there. I've never gotten to experience something like that. No racing here. Hence the reason I'm moving to the PNW on Monday! And I dunno...seems like I have the most memorable fun when the fit hits the shan and your brain has to work it all out. Stage race. All makes sense now.

yep just limping home to race again.

I have ridden from half way down Blue Velvet all the way to the bottom of the hill at Whistler Bike Park with a front flat. That shit was sketchy!

 major LAD points

So his determined enough or has enough cash to sacrifice a rim for a race, yet he's cheap enough to keep the tire and not leave it at the trail side...
  • 15 0
or he does not want to leave a tire in the woods, that's not good for anything.

i've heard of stories of racers running on just their rims.. never thought i'd see one.. WOW
  • 2 0
saw a few people coming down on pretty much bare rims at the student DH champs in march, i'd rather lose a race than pay for a wheel rebuild!

he must feel like hes cornering on rails now Big Grin
  • 1 0
He would not have a front brake if he had left the tire on, the tire would just keep rolling as the wheel was stopped.
  • 1 0
That is GREAT!! you go dude!
  • 2 1
laziness will cost him a new rim
  • 5 0
A $50 rim might be worth it to him if he's still collecting points and not just going for a single race win.

If he was lazy he wouldn't have gone through the effort to remove and save the tire. I'd say he's still racing.
  • 2 0
 u got a point dude
  • 1 0
BUT, like a guy said above, why would he take the time to take the wheel off to remove the tire if he was still racing? So I really dont know! But the tire prob cost more than the rim so maybe just trying to save the tire then got lazy? Ha!
  • 1 1
least ride it with the tire on for grip and a chance of save the rim from scratches and tht :S

 yeah man good on you
