Selected by Ian Hylands - I really like the use of the warm gelled flash to light up the inside of the building on the left of the frame. The yellow cords and jacket really go well with the warm glow of the setting sun.
I love this photo. At first I thought the coat and cables were distracting me from the rider but the more I look at it they make the shot. The composition just makes you want to look further at all aspects of the shot, such as the field and the house in the background. Great shot and excellent timing.
they both look uber sick. i've been doing tucks for awhile.. easy, fun, stylish, but i did my first suicide yesterday.. so much harder, but still just as fun and stylish. sick shot, sick trick, those that hate, can't do it.
I'm gonna be a bit of a downer, and say that yeah the lighting is nice, and the foreground scenery adds character to the photo. But it just takes the focus away from the riding. Not in that you look at the scenery more than the riding, but it dampens the rawness and feel that you might get from a more "boring" riding photo. Maybe i'm just a cynic, but i'm finding all the fancy, wonderfully coloured photo's more of a Photographers eye candy than a riders. My opinion. Dont bash.
Couldn't have said it better myself chap. I'm not a fan of it really either. Ok the lighting is pretty cool but it's resulted in the rider being slightly overexposed and 'lost' amongst all the other things going on. It's kinda like a average landscape photo with a rider pasted onto it.
I'm no photo expert but the more I look at it the more he does look photo shopped in. Also, if you look at the way the sun is facing and the shadow of the door way...its shade is in the wrong direction.
I'm not going to neg prop you, but I'm going to say that you really have no idea what you're talking about. There is no evidence whatsoever of photoshopping. The rider looks a little bit weird around the edges, but that's because the sun is blasting through him and there is a whole bunch of flare around the edges. Take a look at his helmet or his bars, that's just flare. If you look at it full size, 1024 x 680 there is no edginess at all, and if you zoom in more than that everything in the photo will be edgy because you're magnifying the pixels.
As for the shadows of the door, yes they're completely wrong, which is a little disturbing, but that's created by the super bright gelled light that is behind the photographer to the left and is lighting up the cords and the coat.
If you have any doubts I can send you this photo in orignal size but now please watch my gallery, and think!:] I'm a photographer and I'm using photoshop only to highlight the colours etc... I'm trying to do everything with my camera during photosession, so there is only two flash lights, one outside to illuminate rider, and one inside to show coat and cables. Peace!
Please do.. But I guess I was being a bit ignorant. Still a bit skeptical but the lighting just makes it very easy to subject it to use of photo editing.
Not really, the lighting makes it look a little bit fake, because it doesn't look natural, but it doesn't make it any easier to edit in any way. The first question you should ask if you think something has been edited in Photoshop is "why would someone photoshop this" And in this image there is no reason to photoshop anything. There is nothing here that is difficult to do with just a camera and a rider, so there is no benefit to any kind of photoshop.
i miss the old days, where it was always beautiful shots, i mean alright its nice, but i wish we could go back. plus i feel like alot of them are just being picked because the people that pick are photographers...
If you just take the time to actually look at it closely and view how the shading is compared to the sun, its quite obvious its a fake picture. Let alone just looking at the edgy sections around the rider.
