Why bother with negative comments like that? If you don't like the photo, it's absolutely unnecessary to give your opinion on it, especially when it's an opinion based on preference and not constructive criticism.
Telling us that you don't care if you get neg repped just makes you sound like a whiney little kid.
Hmm... I think that it's good to get both positive and negative feedback, but what would be better is if he said why it doesn't inspire him to ride.
However I dis agree and think this is a sweet shot!
How can this not inspire you to ride?? I don't really get to do much DH- this is the type of shot that makes me want to put the jump bike away for a few weeks and head for the hills.... Awesome.
Here is my constructive criticism: The colors, mainly green are awesome. The contract in the photo is also spot on. He did a great job with it. I'm sure he used a lot of pre-visualization with this shot. The fact that he had to probably climb a tree made his efforts even better. If I were him I would have burned the right corner of the shot because the light up there takes away the emphasis oh the rider, I feel. The biggest issue with this photo, however, is the rider looks like an ant. He's too small so he either needed to climb a closer tree or zoom in a little more. He just don't look proportional to everything else in the photo (Trees, trail, etc.)
I love negative feedback. I love positive feedback. If I'm going to read what people think about an image I'm not looking for ego strokes, I'm looking for the full breadth of people's thoughts.
See, now that's better. Leaving a comment where it's just "I don't like this photo, go ahead and neg rep" is useless, but when you actually leave a solid reason as to why you don't like the photo, it's good for the photographer.
I love this shot from a photography perspective, but as far as POD goes I'm not really sure. For me it doesn't have the ACTION or that 'Dammmmmn I wanna go riding!' punch that a POD should have. In my opinion it has more of a 'Damn what a lovely rainforest' feel, but really there could be a hiker (yeah lame)... or a mountain lion in the rider's place and I'd get the same feeling. Nothing negative at all to say about the photographer, who is very talented Just an odd choice for POD.
