Yes, I'm really annoyed about that, it was early morning and the light was on & off. Thanks for standing up and saying it.

Definitely using the rule of thirds there!

the flash is too strong for me, but the rest of the picture's amazing Smile

Idk I'm chill with the flash. To me, a total photo noob, it helps to make the rider way in the background a little more noticeable.

 Love this shot!

is this trail "green monster" in the bike park? or somewhere else in Whistler?

I do enjoy the highlight created by the flash. If it wasn't there, the rider would get lost in the photo. Although, I could see the flash being placed at a different angle to where the shadow is not so dominant behind the rider. Maybe off to the side or closer to the base of the rock, where it still highlights the rider and does not create such a stark shadow. Great image though. I wish I had the time and tech to experiment like this. Keep up the good work!

I actually prefer the slightly Juiced flash in this shot. The slight overexposure pulls your eye directly to the rider first then you can kind of wander through the rest of the image. Good job!

 Thanks buddy. Appreciate it.

I agree completely, after all it is a biking website. The first thing I noticed was the rider and then the colorful landscape. Nicely done!

i could not tell if it were sarcasm, so am being cautious.

in the case that it were sarcasm, hahaha

no one has said the big line yet! im shocked!
  • 2 0
Oh i get it now. Ill finish it off...

'and i say to myself, what a wonderfull day'

There we go Smile
  • 1 0
 ...ohhh yeah.
  • 1 0
well, im kinda embarrassed for you, cause you screwed up that line!
imma say it myself now:
"and i think to myself, What a wonderful world"
  • 1 0
Actually u messed it up. The second line was from the second verse not the first. Maybe the fact that it did not rhyme was a clue? I see them bloom for me and you, is what it should have been. Unreal.
  • 1 0
 aright, imma gonna youtube it.
  • 1 0
U need to youtube it? Huh.... Ok then...

My years of watching bear grylls tells me that is old mans bear growing on those trees (although i am probably wrong to be honest)
  • 2 0
We just call it wizard's beard. But lichen will do.
  • 3 1
Bear Grylls doesn't know anything. Survivorman is the real expert

I personally think that came out sick with such a low shutter speed. I get a little to cautious to let mine that low. apart from that outstanding shadow from the flash, I find this shot soo soo epic!!
  • 1 0
haha Im just gonna assume some cameras handle better shutter speeds than others. Theres probably something technical in understanding how that works that I have missed, being the stingy person I am.
  • 3 0
blur is affected by a lot more than just shutter speed. A subject moving across the frame will can be quite blurred at even a 500th of a second, while you can freeze a subject moving towards you at 1/125th. And the closer something is to the camera the more it will blur, motion relative to the camera...

that would make sense, thanks tup

Nice one Mike. Awesome shot, lovin the mos and greeness. it reminds me of the good ol' days! The way some of your shot have been looking I'm surprised you only now nabed POD.

Thanks dude, so stoked to grab one finally!

I thought those were icicles on the tree! That green is so vibrant too! Congrats on POD
  • 2 0
Yeah, Mike! Definitely worth waking up at 6 am to bag this shot. We should get a few more pre work rides/shoots in before the snow flies.
  • 2 0
great angle ,too much lighting ,maby a filter on that flash next time.pod status for sure
  • 1 0
Thanks. Yeah, the flash was a bit harsh on Corrie. Next time though...
  • 1 0
I normally don't understand the picture by looking at the thumbnail, so I open it and understand what's going on... In this one I still don't get it. Cool
  • 1 0
Pulling that down with a Layer/Blend mode would be fast and easy. Even stamping out the shadow would be pretty easy if you were inclined. Solid image like it!
  • 1 0
This looks awesome, so lush and green! Very definitely a great day of riding in the PNW.

this is a great pic but the shades of green make me go bug eyed

Thanks for keeping it on the down low mike

No worries leelau. Gotta keep somethings for ourselves. You've been hitting some sweet Swiss trails by the look of it.
  • 1 0
No prob Mike - the trail definitely needs some TLC and brushing for sure. Swiss is good but Pemberton/Whistler riding ain't so bad lately!
  • 1 0
I've been riding a lot of the valley in Whistler last summer, but can't figure out where is this line. Mel's Dilemma being a 'confusing' trail, lot of of options here. I'm lost.

For the record, Whistler is in the Pacific Southwest not Northwest.
  • 5 0
Perhaps the Southwestern part of Canada, but here's a link that helps better define "The Pacific Northwest" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Northwest
