I can sympathize with the mechanic. A customer wanted me to install one for him the other day, and i made him watch me, just so he knew it wasn't my fault. Bloody thing broke in like 4 places. Complete trash.
I agree to the fragility of the headset, but the mechanic did not use equipment suitable for the assembly (he used a hammer) .... i was shocked during assembly,though I had told him to stop, he continued...
