Ive got the coilies on the front wound down as far as i can as the tyres rub on the spring collar.
Im getting 5mm spacers so i can really get the front down, but only another inch or two because its just not practical any lower and the handling will be ruined!
Its a rolling project, i bought it 14 months ago with 35k on the clock and 2 owners from new. it had never been touched mechanically, not even an oil change! so its getting some TLC atm. saying that its on 47k now, it does get used!
I just dont have enough money to go all out on it at the moment, i want to get a bike again so thats the priority now!!
"Today i stripped the rear end. Had almost no problems whatsoever!
all of the bolts came out really easily with a breaker bar and some penetrating oil!"
Lucky bastard! I've been spreading mine over several of my days off and there is still just 1 seized bolt left (no nut, it's just seized in the bushing sleeve!). Dampers rotted through, 3 stub axle bolts sheared, bolt holding the pipes to the axle sheared, all brake pipe guides split when being bent away. U bolts had to be cut through and all the bushings are perished. :C 1.6d wasn't in a state worth spending the money on with mine either so that's out, trying to get funds and find a 1.9 AAZ code TD engine.
Reading over it I sound a grumpy bastard, but oh well. Mine's a 92, last year they were made and although it's good compared to some, it's a rotter! The rust is far worse than the thread shows, it'll be a good bit of fun! Sump scraper for sure, coilovers will be at the bottom, 2 inch blocks out back (with cut bumpstops as always) and the chassis legs need to be notched to accommodate the driveshafts.
