I guess you're building it yourself as I don't think we do the Five in a much better spec than this! Does that mean you'd be selling the Patriot as I have often found my Five a little bit too short travel for some bigger bits of riding which is pretty much why I bought the Prototype Patriot from work and I can actually see my Five being sold shortly as my Patriot does nigh on everything a Five can and more with it only weighing 2lbs more than a Five Pro but having a lot more travel and versatility. Just a thought Smile

Ahh so you work for Orange eh :-) i'm keeping the Patriot fella,it's a better AM machine for around here,i already snapped my 5 and i sent it back to Orange for a new front triangle and respray,i reckon it's going to weigh in at 29lb with a reverb when it get's built,it's going to take a while though,i have frame, fork, shock, crankset, brakes and headset so i have a load of expensive stuff out of the way,the pair of bike's together are going to look amazing their both black with a white Fox fork, the 5 is Disco black with gold decals and a full Probolt Titanium boltset and Burgtec offset shockbush kit, full 10sp shadow plus XTR(like my Patriot) and Tech M4's with 203 floaters :-)

thinking about it you might be able to help me :-) i have a 5 swingarm that i want to use as a knock about bike sometime, now i can't find a front end and was wondering if an Alpine 160 has the same spacing as a 5,i have a 190 shock and a 215 also and 222 so all i need is a front end, would an Alpine fit a 5 swingarm ? and do Orange get refurbished frames ever ?

Sounds amazing, I hope you have good locks on where you keep these! Are they both going to be 3x10?

I'm afraid that the Five and Alpine work on different pivots so the two halves of the frame are incompatible, also the few old frames that are kept in the factory are pretty much all prototypes so I doubt they'd be sold, your best bet is to watch ebay or on here for a Five front of the same year

ohh i keep my bikes well under lock and key m8,where i live we need the widest available gear ratio's,my Patriot has a 36 on the rear and i can climb just about anything the Dark Peak District can throw at me,i do a lot of road linkage as well so a 42 comes well in handy,i can and regularly do 50+ miles and a double's just not enough,i love the fact i do stuff that 95% of people see as impossible,i like the "You do that on a freeride bike" factor :-D lol it make's me piss myself laughing :-)

cheers for the info fella :-) i'm watching Ebay and on here all the time, just out of interest how much would a new front end 5 cost then ?

That's fair enough actually, there aren't too many big hills around where I live and I can just about get my Patriot up the biggest of them with just a double and an 11-30 road cassette but I doubt I'd get it up any serious hills! I'm sorry to say I have no idea if we sell just front ends, you're probably best talking to your LBS about it Smile

aww :-) thats ok m8,i know the guys at North West MTB pretty well and i'll ask them, they have pretty good connections with Orange, your Patriot's too slack for around here and i would struggle at best to get it up some of the stuff i get mine up,i just got a Rocco air TST for mine so i have adjustable Geometry on the fly,i can go from i would say 64-67 degree's safely now but i reckon i'll only go to 65.5,i'm at 67 now and it's good to climb like that and ok on the DH but now it's going to be a whole new ball game :-D
