do i see an extra weld line on the reinforcement between the top tube and the downtube?
  • 1 0
yeah --- l see what you mean, it does sorta look like they welded a weld. it isn't though, it's just the way that gusset makes it look like two welds on top of each other.

lol i had the same frame and cracked it there Razz

yeah -- we had to warranty one frame for the same reason. seems like an old place for a crack to develop but Marin hooked the guy up with a brand new frame so he's happy.

mine had no warranty when that happened... so i got a Kona and it's still ok Razz

you coulda / shoulda opt for the crash-replacement deal-e-o. ----- l did that for another guy who had a crack with an expired warranty. they hooked him up there too.

re-weld it, sold it and didn't loose too much money, the guy riding it is way smaller and not as happy hucking shit to flat so it's ok (he knows it was cracked and welded again, sold it with crack pics and stuff)

the marin is a good frame but the rear end is not as stiff as the kona... also i won an extra inch of travel Cool

yeah --- l would compare the Quake to the Kona Coiler series ---- l had 3 Coilers before making the switch to the Quake. Me, l much prefer the Marin over the Coiler... it looks really funky and all but l think it rides much better than the Coiler and for sure, it climbs waaaaaaaay better. when you compare the Quake to an 8 inch bike, that's just apples and oranges.
