I think it's because the HS-33 is too powerful for most horizontal drop/hub combos to handle, and not adjustable enough to cover the range in CS length.
I think crs-one is right about that, I was thinking about it for a long time.... To be honest it doesn't bother me, at first when I had the tensioner I always got my foot stuck in it when manualing, so I took it off, shorten my chain and all good. If Sane Wattson and Ali C can ride like that, for sure I can. Great bike tho, Im so happy that I switched from the 26 riot, not that it wasn't great.
I have horizontal drops out on my trials bike and nope they can handle them fine. Having horizontal drop outs is alot easier for getting a good tension, then getting your HS33s setup. Because It can be a pain jumping to tension then it takes away your setup, so back and forth.
If the inspired had horizontal drop outs, that would be soo much better. Shame, but some trials run gears.
