 I've been doing the clear thick tube over the final loop of RD housing for years. it helps protect it from getting snagged by rocks and adds a bit of push against the whole body of the mech so it won't swing against the frame backwards

 is it me or this shifter works slow because the upper cog is away from the sprocet-s
i'd put it closer if it was for meConfused ? for more precise shifting

 Anyone knows why would you want to add the protective layer at this point of the shifter cable?
