I used to get really twisted up about it but I try not to let if bother me any more. What goes around, comes around. And I've hit people pretty hard with offers as well and if you're going to sell on Pinkbike or any other site, you need to harden yourself from lowball offers. Remember, as a Seller you can either reply or ignore. Haha - but even as I say that, I still get drawn into these ridiculous and pointless pissing contests that go nowhere.

It's easy to get chapped with a lowball offer but we have to remember - it's just an offer. Many aren't serious anyways and some are very creative. But nobody is ripped off unless the Seller agrees to the deal or offer - then it's too bad for the Seller if he doesn't know the value of his bike or too bad that if they're hard pressed and despirately need the cash and elect to take less than fair market value. Ultimately it's up to the Seller to sell, negotiate or hold.

The buyer doesn't have to offer top dollar because he want's to be a nice guy or even a fair guy. If there is a way a buyer can buy a bike for the lowest possible dollar - what is wrong with that? I don't like it when someone lowballs us but I can also appreciate the fact that a 14 year old kid might bust his ass trying to scrape up a $1000 to buy the nicest dj'er he can get his hands on and if he find a $1400 dream bike (for him) he offers everything he has to buy that bike. Some parents will tell their kids that if they want it bad enough, they'll have to earn it. If that kid can only manage to muster $1000 but has a stereo or guitar to sweeten the pot - then why not make that offer. The worst that can happen is that he gets ridiculed for the offer, gets cursed at - but that's all.

I've reconsidered lowball offers, provided they offered something else to suppliment the offer that I could use or found interesting. Heck, I've accepted two shovels and an old push type lawnmower as partial payment. My kid wasn't impressed but whatever - he knows I can use that (correction - he'll use them)

So - we assess the offers and ask for more if I don't think its fair. If the person doesn't want to offer up - then I'm out. It's all good fun to us anyways.
