Nice dude. I've planned out new a DJI550 photography ship myself that I'm thinking of building. I have a 450 now, and it's hella fun but won't carry more then a Gopro. If you plan on carrying an SLR, you should get the "extension Kit" that allows bigger props.
yea, we are just flying with a GoPro for now. once we get good with it we'll get the extension/ heavy lift kit and throw on a dlsr with gimbal. we got a 450 frame for free with the 550, so we might build that up too. just for shits n gigs
havent flown it yet, but it should be pretty damn stable. that tower on it uses GPS to stabilize itself and to use and autopilot function. also has computers to turn up/down the different motors to help stabilize
not sure as my dad pitched in for a lot because its not only my toy haha and he wont tell me. i can send you a message of the websites where we got the parts though if you want. and it will be able to hold a DSLR, but we would need larger props and possibly better motors. but we are going to try to get good at flying it before we through a dslr up on it
check out rctestflight and dirtjumpdanails channle(stratus productions) he shows you how to build one and what it can carry and how much, he uses it for biking videos!
this one, upwards of 1800. but you can build one with the same frame for much less. the computer, a DJI Wookong, is $1200 alone. thats because it has everything the Naza has and a lot more functions built in, waypoints, a setting where you can focus on a point and no matter where you fly the copter will face that point, a "saftey net"/ auto return function, manual, and more. you can get a DJI Naza computer for 300ish, which has manual and a GPS mode that helps steady the copter and automatically counter wind resistance in
i think DJI is either developing or they already have a GPS program for single bladed heli's. just browse the web and see what you can find. the other guy commenting on the picture, BookerT88, made a 3 bladed one out of wood and the whole thing was 200ish including the controller if i remember correctly. we also just got a system to stream live video from a second camera back to the ground, which will make it easier to get better shots
