Matching the components with the pants... Swag
  • 24 2
Normally I don't like the word swag... but damn.
  • 11 4
I hate the word swag, but I could think of no better adjective to compare bike components with clothing... In a moment of weakness it was a must!

and some guy was saying only idiots run minion fronts on both ends the other day...
  • 21 0
Minion DHF on both ends is a rad combo...
  • 3 0
Minion DHF both front & rear = sic rad dude!
  • 6 0
I'm a huge idiot for choosing cornering grip over braking traction, cmon fashion police arrest me
  • 4 1
I find them terrible under braking in the rear
  • 3 0
theyre not bad for braking, although if youve ever been to a race you notice alot of people shouting "get off the brakes" and voila! braking doesnt matter anymore
  • 4 0
people who say DHF are terrible for braking are generally slower riders who dont know how to effectively brake and just skid everywhere
  • 6 0
people who say DHF do brake well generally don't ride fast enough to notice the lack of braking power , and have never tried a better tyre Smile
  • 2 0
But really with the added cornering traction you shouldn't need to brake as much? Yeah it can get a little rowdy when braking really heavily but if you're going fast enough to brake that hard then you should be able to control it. I love my Minion DHF, its not for everyone.
  • 1 0
bigburd, as far as i can tell i know DHF are one of the best tires for both front and rear, hell half the people in my state ride them and we have some of the fastest riders in the southern hemisphere.
  • 1 0
not denying its a great tire , just it's not good for braking on steep tracks , which from the vids i have seen Oz does not have
  • 1 0
as far as im concerned, i would rather slide while going streight than when im leaned 45% into a corner

and from where i come from, steep is easy to find. nannup, dwellingup, welli mills, all tracks that sam hill grew up riding. its a great tire for mostly everything, however i have heard that british trails are often undermaintained and recked from neglect and moslty always drenched with water, so why you would be using a dry tire in the first place is beyond me.
  • 1 1
There is really no better tire combo then a set of dualply 3C DHF's front and rear. its pretty much the standard these days. Hardly any braking is done with your back tire anyways. DHF's just roll so much faster then the DHR, so it exaggerates the less braking power feeling cause you're going faster everywhere.
  • 3 0
 ^^ too true
  • 2 0
I'll take dual muddy marys front and rear over that combo any day, a superior tire. Minions are just a good all arounder and a safe predictable bet to run when its dry, not so great in the wet either(again braking, but you guys got this shit dialed brakeless any track anywhere).

I think alot of people are just afraid to stray from their minion dhf combo they've been running since 2006
  • 2 1
ive tryed muddy marys but just found they didnt quite feel right to me, now theyre just my winter tires, and if minions can get me down cypress in one piece then theyre good for just about anybody unless its champery
  • 2 0
the specialized butcher is just as good as the DHF. i have aDHF on the rear and a butcher in the front and its the best combo
  • 1 0
butchers cost more than dhf's tho
  • 1 0
^its about the same price, i have Butchers front and rear. Theyre good no doubt but even they cant compete with the 3C of the Minions
  • 1 0
theyre tryed and true the only issue is that slower riders wont like them in the corners and braking
  • 1 0
I would of thought everyone could aree with the cornering traction part ? That is the highlight of them for me.
  • 2 0
yup, its just you gotta really rail a corner to have them dig in good, aka why slow guys wont like them
  • 1 0
the butcher would make a slightly better rear than the dhf, the lugs are spread across and angled a little more than on the minion, creating more braking area and a little better transition when leaning. I find dhfs have an abrupt transition when leaning them over. DHF is till a great tire, im just trying to shed light on the fact they arent the only tire choice out there and things have progressed since their release years back.
  • 1 0
 you racing hemlock fast guy?
  • 1 0
never said i was fast I'm just not slow... idk if I'm racing it or not, and are you talking about the dhr or the dhr 2? i just heard about them (ya I live under a rock shut up) and they seem way better than the old ones
  • 1 0
just pokin fun at ya, i was talking about the dhf used as a rear. I like them upfront in the dry, i just prefer a tire with more paddle to it in the rear

Yeah amazing that Ironhorse Sundays are still being ridden everywhere and making PODs. They were even up there on the list of bikes being ridden at Whistler currently. Makes me kind of miss my Ironhorse. At least until I climb onto my TR250 tomorrow. Ha!
