By marketing and advertisement, the conversion to tubeless does not save 6 pounds. It will usually save you about a pound after everything is said and done comparing tubeless vs. tube. I've seen tubeless work great, i've also seen it horribly wrong...Corey Zell's tire this weekend at Snowshoe for example. Wouldn't have blown off if it were a tube rather than tubeless. You can burp the tire which is not good with tubeless and tube tires tend to carve a bit better

don't care for the tubeless stuff ---- l'll leave tubeless to cars and motorcycles, l don't think the bike version is worth the effort.

l have a set up Maxxis tubeless converters that l used once but they've been taken off the market as far as l know --- they never gave me problems and actually, they held air for a really long time. don't know why they took them off the market.

Tubeless is the way to go. An average DH tune weighs 3 pounds. Convert it to
Tuneless there's 6 pounds off my bike. And that most important area to shave weight from being its unsprung and rotation weight. The less of those two you have the better off you will be. The bike will roll faster and smoother and accelerate quicker. STANS does a great job with TuBeless and I plan on never running tubes again
And the most common flat is a pinch flat. Tubeless eliminate pinch flats
Also setting up a tubeless wheel can be way easier than putting in a tube.

you musta got lucky on getting em pumped up --- lots of people can't get er' done without the use of a compressor shooting mega air into the tires - quickly
yeah -- agree about the spinning weight and the pinch flat thing. from my standpoint, l have had a lot of people get really ticked cause the tire will burp or they'll have issues with the Stans fluid gunking up the valve and they'll unable to put air in or even let air out. the theory is great but the application can be quite an issue for some. especially if it happen on the trail.

in a race situation, where every second counts.... sure, l can see why the pros sport tubeless but, for Joe Casual Biker who's just hitting the DH on the weekends and Freddy Freeride, l would still stick with tubed tires.
