 get an old axle, put the cone nut on the insides of the dropout then another on the outside. i can almost promise if you ship it like that your not gonna have fun getting your back wheel in.

 I put a threaded rod with some nuts in there. Should do the trick.

 I hope you put something in between where the rear wheel goes, or that frame will be bent when it gets to the destination.

 I was considering it at the time, but opted out as I couldn't figure out what to actually use. However, I think I'll open up the packaging again and try and make something work. The fact that there will likely be weight on top of the box and that rear triangles aren't designed to tolerate direct side loads is making me wary.

 that or just a piece of 2x4 or something wedged in there.

 My friend lives in Santa Cruz so I think we'll mostly be sticking around there. I know Petaluma is north of San Fran so if we head that way, I'll shoot you a message.
