I bought the complete Giant Trance from my friend. It used to look like this www.pinkbike.com/photo/3519001 plus lots of moss, rusted chain/bolts/cables, broken mech hanger, frame bearings were shot. It was a bit of mess so I was able to buy it from him for £200. I then stripped the frame down, replaced the bearings (£30) and resprayed it. The parts I kept were, frame, shock, headset, bb, cranks, wheels and seat clamp. I already had tyres, tubes, chainguide, chainring, tensioner, rotor, SS kit, seat post and pedals. Instead of servicing the Pike I just bought a used Argyle off here for £110 and also the seat off here again for £20. I took the bar, stem and brake off my Suburban. I may take the uppers/internals from my Revelation and put the Argyle lowers on for even more steeze.
The Banshee Rampant is definitely still my favourite, I still regret selling it. That thing rode so well, though I got to admit this rides very well. Hopefully on Wednesday is the weather holds I'll be able to head down to Poldice Valley and get some air miles on this bike.
Props on the build though, thats serious budget building and with good parts too. The thing I would worry about is the pike steerer, seen many snapped. I mean if you ride dirt then it's probably fine, but I just personally would never run a pike.
Sweet man, rampant is nice but for a budget build this rocks!
