 i am not sure what "roped in" means, but there is a rope which pass in a hook secured in the rock.

 Doesn't look like it. Not sure why you'd want to free anything with a harness and pro, but hey, to each his own.

 I lied, just looked again. There's a draw straight below him and it's easy to see the rope once you spot it. Mindfucked.
