 Is this just a modded rucksack or a proper haulin' rig? I ask as I struggle to transport my massive medium format camera around in it's box and am looking for an option that would suit strapping the box to my back.

 It's a proper set-up and is being sold at canoe or kayaking places... it's called a "Portage Barrel". Comes with a lid, fully waterproof and quite good to carry.
