that run would have been legendary.. still is in my opinion.

I remember hearing that even if Soderstrom had finished his run the judges wouldn't have scored it higher than Semenuk.

Not trying to diss Brandon. But he oppos just as much as he regulars. So is it still oppo any more?

oppo is a whole new skill set. so as long as no one else is doing oppo whips and bars it will continue to score high. and i think there may be more people in the world who can do a regular triple whip than an oppo double whip if that gives an idea of difficulty?

This is really funny to see how confused a lot of MTBers seem to be with the concept of opposite/unnatural tricks whereas in other sports like skiing and snowboarding, it's been a standard in comps/filming for well over a decade now, haha.

The introduction of oppo stuff in mtb definitely is worthy of higher points, that stuff is ridiculous. However, when it comes to how entertaining it is, I would much rather see martin's lazy nacs or suuuuper dumped 3's any day. But when it comes to scores, based on sheer techiness, I think Brandon probably still would have won.

The oppos whips may be technically harder but you have to bare in mind that riders are awarded points for progressive tricks that push the sport. The simple fact that a triple whip is'nt beening done by any other riders is bound to give Martin big points.
As a second note I would have wanted to see Soderstrom on top just to mix things up and fire up the competition in the FMB. Just look at how exciting the DH world cup has been over the last two races with Gee and Smith!

Haha if Soderstrom has not gotten injured, I would think he would have it in the bag over Pilgrim at Rampage.

radrob, no one else is doing OPPO double whips either, oppo trucks on drops and other than pilgrim, flat flipping drops. that is also progressing the sport. everything oppo feeels super awkward. the fact that semenuk can do more or less all of his tricks oppo and make it look normal goes to show how ahead of the game he is and how much work he puts into riding.

Semenuk may have done a ton of oppo tricks, but Martin b-spinned out of the wall ride, triple whipped, 360ed the small drop to hip(may have been oppo I forget.) And 3 doublewhip at the end. In my opinion that is better then semenuks oppos. Although I'm not say Semenuks run was bad, It was crazy!
