Ride South past the entrance to Camp Lemonnire (USA)and through a little town. Just past the town these ancient walking paths connect abandoned villages. You can see mounds of rocks in the photo. These are circles of stone that once had a thatched roof. These trails are still used by local herdsmen. Winter may be the only good time to ride in this area since temperatures will be about 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49C) with high humidity in the Summer. Additionally, the black volcanic rocks collect heat and radiate it back. Don't ride at night since hyenas come out and it doesn't really cool down that much at night. The day I took this photo it actually rained for a minute. It was about 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29.5C) and overcast. This is normal weather for the dead of winter in Djibouti!
Come celebrate our 10-year anniversary, see the first live 2017 Norco Range bikes ever, and help us say bye to our beloved manager Chris who will be leaving us at the end of March.
