The Bike.. with it's old tires.. and pre- upgrades. She's a 52 speed road purposed bike. For more than 25 years I've had this *dream* to see how fast a cyclist can go... actually cycling. Back in the day, we talked about jack- shafting.. then Sturmey- Archer introduces a 3spd internal w/ 9spd casette.. add on two up front and.. voiala... killer top end (massive overlap in gears but..).. training started 6 months ago.. trials start once the highways are clear.

The Boat.. lengthened in the BoatShed.. a single car garage that she just barely fits inside. Here, she's 22' long and getting prepped with plywood restructuring for the rebuild.. the enlargening phase.

Some clamping.. not glamping, Clamping to hold the plywood on. T- 88 is a great adhesive to use as it bonds multiple products to each other nicely. One hardship is.. there's no heat in The Boatshed so.. I can't be in there working away when it's less than zero.

Bow down to the Pedal Powered Boat.. in it's original state. The first phase of her growth this year will be right here- bringing her height up by about 20" and creating the BowSprit mount.

A long look inside.. you don't get perspective of size but she's looking nice and long.. and you can see my LeMond on the wall awaiting her mod's and upgrades for city use... ahh, steelie roadie, that's me ;)

Hull Form. She's going to lose her nominal keels and her hull has gone from being a "V" section to being flatter.. which means she's going to be harder to heel over. Ahh. I remember the days of youth sailing on big water with the boat heeled over so far I could almost just step over and in to the water...

While I was living in Vancouver, BC and working as a commercial painter, I would commute to and from jobsites by bike almost exclusively. Pictured is my 2011 Kestrel Talon.. I was so excited to finally get a Kestrel and there is storied uses to it..

3rd ave Calgary.. the only day I ever spent shooting couriers- a project I've wanted to explore time and again.. shooting the odd and obscure experiences of courier days. If memory serves, this would be Niel's bike as this was shot only a few years after I was a Calgary courier and Niel had passed away just prior to this visit.

The Gary Fisher Joshua that donated my URT (Unified Rear Triangle) for my main boat. Lots of peeps have said you don't need gears on water since it's flat but I have always felt that adding gears to a pedal powered boat would mean you can maximize your physiological changes through the day.. a thought that is Dr. corroborated.

The initial boat pre- cut. At this point, the deck is still there even. In the past year she has been cut in half and lengthened from the original 16' to a more robust 22' and after The Naming Contest I'll be building her sidewalls and cabin enclosure.

placement.. putting the URT in a sort of placementing position fore position in the cockpit.. pre- deck removal and pre- cutting her in half..

The URT.. basic. The rear hub is a Disc unit.. 9 spd disc where the disc is replaced with a 16t ring that is chain- connected to the main propel- style pedal drive mounted on the other side of the counterweight mast.
