x-9 is like half the price of x-0, it only makes sense a lot more people are using it
  • + 9
X9 is the deal, relatively cheap, but very good quality and durable.
  • + 5
X-9 is super slick looking too. with the elixir 9's their a match made in heaven.
  • + 3
X9, takes a beating and keeps going, can't get any better for the price
  • + 2
 I have X0 and XTR/Saint/Zee.
I like the shimano stuff better for riding. Reliability of the X0 has been great though.

 There IS common sense!

I have got xo brakes, saint crank single, x9 mech and x7 seven shifter and would say saint and xo are very similar. But I agree x9 is such good value and is so good and mine has never let me down.
  • + 3
i honestly prefer saint to XO. just prefer the feel of the shifting.
  • + 3
Just sold my XO Brakes, shifter and derailleur, and bought XT brakes and Saint shifter and derailleur. It was night and day, Shimano all the way!

SRAM is such a killer marketing machine, they have their goods spec'd on a bazillion bikes OE that it's not surprising that they're dominant. Would be interested in a "what drivetrain would you rather ride" poll!

Not many on Saint gear. I love my M820 Shadow Plus derailleur. Incredible piece of engineering.
  • + 5
 It's a grower, not a shower.
  • + 7
 I love my Saint!
  • + 1
Yep totally agree, saint is best! really happy with m810

I have a saint mech and it's worked flawlessly. Shame the SLX shifter has been an utter piece IME

Lets hear it for single speed and gearbox!, Derailleurs will soon be a thing of the past!

This *is* a site whose most vocal crowds usually have a DJ or BMX bike in addition to their other bikes (If they have other bikes).
  • + 2
LindLTaylor nailed it. I would think that most of us on this site aren't strictly single speeders, but many have a single speed DJ, BMX, trail bikes, cruisers, trials, or klunkers kicking around the house.

I put in a lot more time on my single speed bike riding dirt jumps and generally dicking about than I do on my cross country bike.
  • + 6
wow 14 people on gearbox's, lucky them and now I feel cool for riding zee haha

Zee is awesome, more people should use it!! Like all shimano stuff!
  • + 5
Looks like Sram is owning, but when I count it was Sram: 2051 Shimano: 2196
  • + 5
I would love to know what gearbox bikes people are using. Are these all Zerode or something else?
  • + 1

I do wonder though if a lot of votes were for what was fitted to the bike when they bought it, there should be a poll asking what aftermarket drivechains peeps are using, Shimano for me btw just works much better in the shitty winters here, my SRAM stuff suffered.
  • + 4
XT.. Shimano is bomb proof.. and works in shit weather. Sram stuff just gets chewed up and spat out in the mud
  • + 11
ghetto it out and go slx
  • + 3
I run XT on my freeride bike and SRAM Apex on my cross bike.. I love the double tap shifters, but Apex is still just awful. Once I have some money I'm thinking about upgrading to a Force/Red group.
  • + 5
I love how running slx is considered 'ghetto'
  • + 1
psh, compared to sram and xt
  • + 1
XT is going to give you the preformance of xtr but with some more weight, i honestly dont care about some grams if it works as good as something thats 100 bucks more
  • + 2
Don't mean to be a nerd here but shouldn't the bars be representative of the percentage of people who voted for them? Otherwise what is the chart showing?
  • + 1
It looks like they are all scaled against the largest number of votes (Sram X9). Looks fairly proportional to me at least.
  • + 4
 hammershmidt is amazing
  • + 1
yea, I tried it once and thought the same thing. I'm not running it now, but would like to if only it were a little more common place. I haven't seen it around in a while.
  • + 2
Suprised xt beats saint! Its gud at least one shimano product is in top 3. My opinion saint is ultimate best!
  • + 1
oh boy.... X9... so many broken and worn out parts. Funny how many people are satisfied with replacing their derailleurs every year.
  • + 1
My XC/Trails with XTR, AM/Enduro with XT and Freeride with X7 (plan to change with Zee)
  • - 2
SRAM X9 2010-2012 rear derailleur are very low quality and broke all the time. Very disappointed by their products and moreover their customer service is bad and what they do is just ignoring customer ... What an arrogant company

no more than one kind option? I have x9 on my downhill bike, XT on the all-mountain rig, and a singlespeed pumptrack/dj/commuter bike.
  • + 1
 you can select multiple ones.
  • + 1
