Back when Truvativ came out with their carbon noir cranks I had just installed them the day before this ride, and it happened that our local Shimano rep was there. On the ride a rock flicked up and took a huge chunk out of the crank arm. I just remember the rep saying “yeah, there’s a reason Shimano doesn’t make carbon cranks”. To this day no carbon cranks for me.
