 reverb came with the bike so I'll stick with that, otherwise I'd never buy one and it's too much of a hassle to make one, for the north shore you usually ride up the hill then down it so just put your seat down for the descent because you're getting off anyway to put your kneepads back on

 Nice to see an alternative way of doing things rather than having to shell out what's a pretty big lump of money for just a seatpost, or certainly when you're on a budget. Be really interested to see how to add a return spring!

 I am very new to trail riding and honestly don't have the money to buy a dropper post but this looks like an interesting alternative. Anther forum I read had a man placing a spring like a car hatchback lever inside the frame under the seat. A possible modification?

 I'll stick with the Reverb. Although wouldn't it be better for the lower connection to loop the post qr bolt that is exposed by the post collar? In turn its a closer connection to the lowering clamp and no frame rub.

 I don't understand why everyone isn't going back to the Breeze Hite-Rite spring and clamp setup? Simple and cheap and worked great. I had one on my Mantis Valkyrie in '90 and a Ti one in'91 on my Mantis Flying V.

 with my luck the bottom epoxy stop bumper would fail and I would have a 3/8" hardwood dowel up my arse :/

 It looks like an easier way to secure my seat post......maybe.
