This bike is good for all around trails and is perfect for where i live. I am satisfied with this mountain bike, it climbs well and handles awesomee. The only downfall was i already had to change out my shifter cables, and ive only owned the bike a couple months. Other than that this bike is the shittt!!!!

I have the 2010 Dawg Deluxe, the oast year they made the Dawg. Its almost 10 years old so some work was in order. Updated front and rear suspension by putting a rockshox recon gold 140 mm travel fork with remote lockout on the front, and a fox float evolution ctd 140 mm travel on the back with a 3 position remote lecer to cycle between climb/trail/descend. Next up was the drivetrain. I dropped the front mech and 3 chainrings and threw on a 34t narrow/wide cinch chainring, took off rear mech and cassette in favor of a sram x-7 type 2.1 derailleur and a one up components 11t-40t 10 speed cassette, sram x-9 10 speed shifter and msr chainguide. Took off that super twitchy colossal monster stem it came with for a short forward up angled trulativ stem and swapped that narrow ass bar for a 750 mm pro taper riser bar then lastly got a new maxxis ignitor for the front and maxxis high roller II rear both setup tubless. . . It took a lot of effort but not as much money as I or you would expect . . .Lot of great deals on used components if you know where to look. Even though this bike is a few months away from being a whole DECADE old you would NEVER suspect it after riding mine. The geometry is surprisingly modern. 140 m m front and back is perfect for this frame, doesnt work as well with longer travel fork, i tried. Im 5'11 and ride the 20' frame. No problem clearing jumps, hitting drops, railing berms, the travel floats over roots and rocks easily at high speed as long as you have your suspension dialed in for you personally. All i need is a dropper post and im ready to ride the pacific crest trail and own mammoth Wink My one complaint is the lack of anti squat and anti rise tech. The bike is a bit dated for the progressive suspension linlage necessary to eliminate pedal bob and brake rise. . . .but when you consider I'm just over $685 TOTAL for this build, its a small compromise for the fun and performance i get out of this diamond in the rough. P.S. All mechanic work has been done by myself and 2 friends. I suggest you learn to perform all upgrades you plan on doing before purchasing a bike like this or you will spend a FORTUNE in labor costs at the bike shop.

Hands down the 17" is the best bike I've ever rode. The travel, the balance, the weight, just epic. No bike has felt the same.
