News Flash. Galvanic Corrosion. Didn't expect this to happen at all. The aluminum threaded eyelets that come supplied, are corroding away inside the rim. This was only discovered when I had to replace spokes a couple weeks ago.

There isn't an electrical current running thru my rims. There isn't an electrolyte between the two surfaces, unless Locktite is an electrolyte. The two dissimilar metals are in contact tho.
Hello. What the Hell.

I use xm819d rims on my XC hardtail from august 2005. I ride them on steep, rooty and rocky singletrails of my local hills. My riding buddies all ride full suspension bikes (all mountian class) so in order to keep up with them I have to ride low pressure in my tires (I weigh 85kg and usually stretch three chains per year).

According to my experiences this rims are very stiff and very durable as long as you use them for their inteded (trail) usage although they can handle even enduro type of riding as long as the rider is light and knows how to ride (they are a bit too narrow for fitting wide tires!).. I had to change a lot of parts (together with hubs, spokes, brakes and numerous drivetrain parts) on my bike (during those 4 seasons), but those rims are still in good shape. I would recommend them for everything from uphill racers, XC racers to all mountain class of bikes. IMHO they are too narrow for enduro bikes, but still they should handle lightweight riders (women for example).
