This is handsdown the best trail bike I have ever ridden! Every rider I've loaned this bike to has loved it. I have the carbon version, it's super light(25lbs complete) and stiff while being incredibly tough. I've had several large rocks hit the downtube without even a scratch! Pivot put a lot of thought into the protective guards on this frame. If you're looking for a "do it all" bike you have to check out the 5.7, be careful of test riding it though! You will end up buying it!

I race DH bikes at the pro level and bough the 2012 Pivot Mach 5.7 to ride up the trails so I can train the descents. I am small 5' 1" and Pivot makes an extra small frame which fits me perfectly.

Now I know what they mean when they say stiff this bike is totally stable over whatever you want to put it over and it is super stiff in the air too, it has great take offs and accelerated stiff landings You just point it and it will go over just about anything. This bike corners sweet and the suspension helps give more traction in the corners in a cross steer. Man does it like to move and go over things whether it is going up or down the trail. Totally sweet ride that looks great. It was love at first ride.

Pivot 2011 Mach 5.7 XT (MSRP $0) — The best pedaling trail bike on the market just got better. We took the critically acclaimed Mach 5, and completely redesigned it for an even greater rider experience. For starters, we increased the travel to 5.7 inches. Next, we dropped the weight of the bike by half a pound by shaving weight from places like the shock tabs, bottom bracket forging, lower yoke area and drop outs. Yet the Mach 5.7 is 20% stiffer than the Mach 5, thanks to increased diameter top and down tubes on the front triangle, forged C-channel uprights on the rear triangle and beefy 8 cartridge bearings throughout. A lower bottom bracket height, more relaxed geometry and slightly taller headtubes add up to better stability and increased rider confidence on the trail and on the race course.
