This is a great fork for dirt jump and street when you wanna take the edge off your wrists. However if you're looking for that plush feel, i think its worth paying extra to get the 409. I've ridden both and there is a HUGE positive difference between the two.

just... awesome!... stiff, not heavy, the maxle is easy to use, and it looks sick!!!

will make your bike feel way better, its almost rigid when you pump to get speed... but it'll save you when you case... or enter a rockgarden

Really nice fork. Just great for DJ and Street. I was using it for Urban Freeride, but it bottomed to much. Now I use Domain 318 U-Turn, but Argyle is better for Dirt Jumping. All in all, it's a great fork. Lots better than Marzocchi Dirt Jumper forks.

Love This fork Bought it After my DJ2's Broke have had these for about a year and a half now and hvaent let me down once, good forks the adjustable compression and rebound is really good and mean i can swith form hard for park and soft for trails, i am now looking at getting the new fox forks though as lighter and getting into 4x.

I have the 2008 one. At the time I bought it, it was a reliable, affordable DJ/Park/Street fork. Latter models became more and more expensive, without much innovation or improvement. Two years later, it still rocks. Even with just basic maintenance performed. Changed oil a couple of times and the seals a few days ago. Still no stanchions/lowers play. Motion Control works great. At least for me. I'm a big guy, and by closing it I can have a rigid fork when I face a jump's transition, and a plush landing when the time comes to. The Maxle QR makes it easier to change the tube if you get a flat tire, and easies transportation.

The only issue I had was with the Maxle diameter. Somehow it didn't fit my old 20mm hub. There was bearing/axle play. Then I sported a DMR Convertable front hub, and the play was gone.

I totally recommend this fork over Marzocchi's Dirt Jumper.

Best dj fork I've ever ridden. Fork has very little flex and all the adjustments make very noticeable improvements. Very light and strong fork and a good deal for the money. Only problem I have with it is the rebound knob is not secure and mine fell off but you can still adjust it with a Allen key. I've owned gold labels which felt very similar and a little lighter but the arch broke after very little riding and Manitou refused to warranty it. Ive also owned several Marzocchi dirt jumpers which are heavier and not nearly as plush or as smooth but they are similar in strength to the Argyles. Ive also owned lowered Fox float 36s which I was less than impressed with because they had lots of stiction and after several big hits blew most of the oil out of the damping chamber. Argyles are the best dj fork you will every buy, I have not had any problems with its strength or performance.

Wow. just got these forks a month ago after bending the steerer on my marz 4x world cups. Love them to bits, the maxle is clean and easy to use and the feel of the forks in general is way better than the marzochis. (in my opinion) they ramp up much better towards the end of the stroke for big hits, and the compression adjustment is also super cool

these looks savage, so much nicer than i thought they'd be. really easyy to adjust yet they do so much. feel really light, make it so much easier to manual compared to my DJ3's. maxle is such a good design. I LOVE THEM, i payed £300 and it was definately worth it!

Still working! Heavy but it does what it's supposed to. Post-Mount should be implemented. Everything could be either made lighter or cheaper. Some people blow it up, many run it without a flaw. Designs are simple yet attractive. Parts of it can be easily replaced and even upgraded.

Amazing forks, had them for 2 months, secondhand, still mint, I ride street and park and I'm so impressed with how light they are and strong, pretty rigid with the compression maxed out and the lowers are just the right shape for my Nike 6.0s to jam Smile

amazing forks! cant get better the only thing my seal burst but apart from that there great. also the arc that goes over the tire gets filled with mud and is pretty hard to clean but that doesnt let the performance down.

This Fork is sick! super light and responsive with tons of adjustibility. I wasn't too sure about the maxle but it's super stiff and easy to use. No leaks, no cracks, no noises or anything so far. Buy it!

RockShox Argyle 318 (MSRP $443) — Dirtjumping/freeride fork.

Specifications Compare to other Forks

Release Date 2009
Price $443
Weight 2531.04 g
Color Options Purpletrator
Travel 100 mm
Travel - refers to the distance the wheel can move in respect to the frame. Typically measured in millimeters, most forks range from 80 to 203 mm of travel
Spring Coil
Crown Single
Body Type Magnesium, Maxle 360 20mm axle, IS disc mount
Rebound External Rebound
Rebound - is how quick your fork returns to a fully extended position after being compressed. Almost all after-market forks feature external rebound adjustment for easy fine tuning.
Stanchion material 32mm 4130 tapered wall Steel, chrome
Steer Tube 1.125
Damping Motion Control
Damping - The process of absorbing the energy of impacts transmitted through the forks or rear shock during the compression stroke, and absorbing the energy of the spring during the rebound stroke.
DropOut Options Maxle
Compression Low speed compression to 'Lock' with Floodgate fixed at high threshold
Compression - This is the damping circuit that absorbs the compression energy force on the damper. Compression damping is used to adjust how quickly a fork or rear shock compresses when hitting a bump, and is adjustable on some products. When compression damping is too soft, this condition allows most of the available travel to be used without attaining control of the wheel. When it's adjusted too firmly, the wheel will jump or "dance" about when hitting small bumps, again failing to gain control of the wheel.
