such a sweet set of forks, ive got the 08 model and they havnt put a foot wrong since i got tthem. perfect for jumpin take all the hits, smooth as f**k, ive even rien abit of downhill on them. only little downside to them is the rebound adjust will fall off if you take a hard hit so i recomend takin it off and keeping it safe. best jump for ever

i've had this forks for a little while now, and they're just about the best DJ forks you can buy.

pros: they're super light and super stiff! (unlike some marzocchis) and the motion control lets you adjust the forks stiffness, so you can run them as hard or soft as you like! awesome colour too!

cons:pricey, not good if you dont like purple....

bought the 409's a couple weeks ago they took atleast a pound off my bike, and all the adjustments are insane can fit any riders likings. The maxle is the best thing ever made so east to take off and the ridges to rest your tire on so you dont have to wiggle it around to get the maxle on you just slide it in. they come with a fork pump which i think is awsome. expensive but definetly worth it!

just got my 409 the other day, its amazing! i cant even explain how much better it is than my '08 dj2. loving all the adjustments, you can make it perfect for any application, even XC! its a little bit lighter, but it feels SO much better it might as well be 10 lbs lighter. my riding basically improved as soon as i installed it. he maxle is awesome too, now it takes 2 seconds for me to take my wheel off to put my bike in the car. if your considering buying this fork, do it! you wont regret it!

soo much better than Marzocchi DJ range. I've had mine for ages and nothings gone wrong, very little maintainance required and huge adjustability with the air spring and floodgate. Super strong and fairly lightweight aswell, i'd recommend them to anyone who rides trails, street or park. I'm not a particularly heavy guy but i run loads of pressure in them so they feel like rigids but soften any hard hits or flat landings. i had a crash a while back and dented the stanchion but it still works fine a year on Smile

They're decent. Had a fair bit of problems with them, although when I had them I was fairly new to biking and wasn't aware of the importance of tuning, and taking care of your bike so they kinda fell apart. They felt pretty nice. I recommend, if you can, get the new RCT. RockShox made a big improvement there.

Man this fork is like the perfect fork for a dirt jumper who cant buy 1000$ components. Its strong, light and durable as f*ck.
BTW its not worth 570 its worth quite a bit more.

I use to have a argyle 318 until I bought a solo air kit for it. This fork is lite and strong, Mine weighs 4.7 LBS comparing to my old fork, a 2006 DJ3 that weighed around 6.3 LBS, the argyle kills it 100%

I have a 2008 409, and it is great. Super smooth, stiff, and adjustable, so you can dial it in to exactly what you want it to feel like. I have been riding it for almost a full season now, and it has been amazing.

I have the 409 in Punishmint [green] and I love it. Pros: It ramps up very good and the travel is smooth. Good strength to weight ratio. Cons: None so far. This is the best jump fork I know of.

probably the best jump/street fork i have ever ridden, regretting selling them for a pair of rigids. I miss them, i had mine set at 80mm and found it perfect, the quick release is the easiest thing to use i loved them

These forks are great for street, dirt, slopestyle and everything else. Pros like Brandon Semenuk, Greg Watts, and many others ride these because they are the best for what they are for.

RockShox Argyle 409 (MSRP $570) — Dirtjumping/Freeride Fork.

Specifications Compare to other Forks

Release Date 2009
Price $570
Weight 2354.14 g
Color Options Black, Purpletrator
Travel 100 mm
Travel - refers to the distance the wheel can move in respect to the frame. Typically measured in millimeters, most forks range from 80 to 203 mm of travel
Spring Air
Crown Single
Body Type Magnesium, Maxle 360 20mm axle, IS disc mount .
Rebound External Rebound
Rebound - is how quick your fork returns to a fully extended position after being compressed. Almost all after-market forks feature external rebound adjustment for easy fine tuning.
Stanchion material 32mm, 4130 tapered wall Steel, chrome
Steer Tube 1.125
Damping Motion Control
Damping - The process of absorbing the energy of impacts transmitted through the forks or rear shock during the compression stroke, and absorbing the energy of the spring during the rebound stroke.
DropOut Options Maxle
Compression Low speed compression to 'Lock' with internal Floodgate
Compression - This is the damping circuit that absorbs the compression energy force on the damper. Compression damping is used to adjust how quickly a fork or rear shock compresses when hitting a bump, and is adjustable on some products. When compression damping is too soft, this condition allows most of the available travel to be used without attaining control of the wheel. When it's adjusted too firmly, the wheel will jump or "dance" about when hitting small bumps, again failing to gain control of the wheel.
