I don't recomend this fork. Never even had the chance to ride the thing and it was puking oil out of the compression knobs and the 2-step stuck down. I've read on the blogs of about a dozen of these occurences besides my own. Unacceptable.
This fork rocks! Hooked to my new Specialized SX you can't go wrong. Was able to use all travel and go hit a DH race course and not loose control, then go right to the DS course and drop the travel then rail some corners with a steeper steer tube angle wich made it easier to hit those tight corners and not loose my speed having more travel soak it up.
Ran the 2010 RS Lyrik 2-Step Air for a little while. Wasn't too bad, but prefer a coil for places like Whistler. Travel adjust worked...but was really slow at changing between 160mm and 115mm. Also, this particular version of Maxle was a pain to use with my Transition Revolution hub.

Damping - The process of absorbing the energy of impacts transmitted through the forks or rear shock during the compression stroke, and absorbing the energy of the spring during the rebound stroke.

Compression - This is the damping circuit that absorbs the compression energy force on the damper. Compression damping is used to adjust how quickly a fork or rear shock compresses when hitting a bump, and is adjustable on some products. When compression damping is too soft, this condition allows most of the available travel to be used without attaining control of the wheel. When it's adjusted too firmly, the wheel will jump or "dance" about when hitting small bumps, again failing to gain control of the wheel.
