I use these on my DH/FR bikes and on my DJ bike. Don't really need highly accurate shifting like I do on my XC bike (where I run at least an XT) and if I tear these off from a crash I'm not out a ton of money. You can usually find these cheap - the last one I bought was about $40 (USD) from my LBS so I bought two; keeping one as a spare.

I've even used these on some of my XC bikes and they work very well with the XT and XTR shifters.

I have been using the same mega nine LX derailleur since 1999. It has been mounted on four different bikes and is currently mounted on my DH rig. This is where parts go to die. It requires some more tuning every season but its a great piece. I Have two others newer models also currently in use.

this deraileur is awesome. If your looking for something that can do everything from downhill racing to cross country riding, this is the deraileur. It works awesome with the lx shifters, and switches gears wicked smooth
