I highly, recommend these brakes for anyone who rides cross country to downhill. They have unbridled stopping power with very little effort on your fingers. They have easy lever pull adjustments that give you all the range you will ever need. I used to be Avid Code all the way. I started running into countless problems with my Codes, so I ditched them. The number one problem being that they need bled all the time and the bleeding system itself is completely asinine. The Shimano Saints bleeding system is virtually tool free and it takes about 5 minutes max to complete. These brakes are just plain and simple, hassle free. If you are even remotely thinking about buying these, for the love of God, don't hesitate. They have nearly everything the Avid Codes have ( stopping power, etc.) without all the problems.- Update as of late season 2011, I decided to try out some avid XX brakes because of weight savings and temporarliy ditched my Saints...big mistake. XX are horrible to bleed, have way to much lever flex and not enough stopping power. The Saints wiegh a full 12oz more than the XX's but I will be going right back to Saints starting the 2012 season. The extra weight is worth the performance.

bike weighs 21,4 kg, me 127 kg, backpack 3 kg.
together the weiht is about 155kg

I ride downhill, freeride, but also street fun often in crowded areas. I have no problems with the brakes at all. Full trust, enormous power and great "feeling" of the modulation. Great look. No disadvantages about the saint brakes.

best brakes ever. Stop you very fast and look very good. Alot better than my avid codes brakes. alot of stopping power, you would never want more. strong and light. there was a review on these in mbuk and they managed to get 1.5g of stopping power.

The braking power of these babies increase your confidence by a factor of 10!
Good modulation.
Reach adjustment is very handy: just turn the little gold knob and adjust.
Bleeding is pretty much straightforward with the right tools for the job.

So much power, i bought these and replaced a set of stroker trails and the difference was so evident whenever i needed the power. Also the fact that i can ride these with only one finger on the brakes means that i don't get carpal tunnel every time i go near the brakes.

Great feel and really powerfull... I like the fact than you can do hard controlled breaking without loosing the frontwheel. Also it has very nice set up features. I run with 6 hole 180mm rotors, and hasn't experienced any loud noise from this brake yet (been runnign for about 2 month of hard breaking) love them!

excellent power, never fail they adjust easily and great for downhill, good adjust system havent needed bleeding in the whole time ive hve them, and show no signs of needing it. there a bit to get to used to after coming off a less powerful brake but after the first ride, your sweet.

I have just recently put this on the rear of my Iron horse 6.6 I went with the rear brake as I had heard that, if you aren't use to teh power the front one will throw you over! Anyway I have gone with a 180 rear disc to replace the 185 juicy 7 I had, and yes teh power straight off teh shop floor is amazing all ready, they look completely pimp and feel bomb proof. Next month I get the front one!

The honest answer is I can oly see them getting better as time goes on.

I actually have a set of the M800 Brakes, and they're nails! Easy to set-up, easy to bleed (when you read the instructions and build the right tool kit). I'm running mine with 160's front and back, and Metals pads up front and resin's out back for XC and Trail riding and so far I enjoy them!

works a charm and can easily endo a slack dh rig. i use them on my all mountain rig with 180mm rotors and the amount of stopping power is just endless. the also cool down quite quick, i have used them all day with little time inbetween to cool and never had and decrease in power due to fade or glazing. WARNING they tend to become even stronger in the wet so lockups occour more readily. i really take pride in my brakes and like to tinker with them to get the most power possible but now it seems is may have to find something more constructive to do as these just seem to go and go like no other i have tried.

Great Brakes all round! Had these on my old Glory with the 6 bolt XT rotors 203mm, Had a pair of Hope V2 with standard (NOT vented) rotors and the saints were 100x's better in my opinion, really strong power, great feel to them too, feel like a solid, reliable brake which they are!

most incredible brakes i have ever had , my bike originally came with custom made avid code cr mags and i liked them , that was until i tried out a pair of these and that was it , they are so strong and are perfect for racing , the levers are the best levers i think on the market and give you the perfect leverage for slowing down at speed and the 4 pot calliper only increases the stopping power making them the ultimate brake for anyone wishing to go fast and rride downhill

After riding these for a few months I have no idea how I ever rode with anything else...
These made me a noticeably faster rider. They increase confidence because they can slow you down so quickly and modulate so well in the process. I had read some reviews from people saying that they were too powerful, but those people either don't have them set-up properly or don't know how to work a brake lever. The levers feel great calipers have worked perfectly. And no toxic dot fluid to strip the paint off of your frame during a bleed.
If there is one downside, it's that they're not as light as some other brakes on the market, but other brakes won't stop you as well as these. I'd rather have another hundred grams on my bike than hit a tree... and these have saved me from many trees that my old (lighter) brakes definitely would not have...

Massive stopping power! It took me a long time to learn how to modulate these brakes. You basically need a light touch. I wasn't too sure how well the mineral oil would do on long DH runs but I have to say they hold up really well. Never had them fade on me. The sell a special bleed kit but you don't really need to use it. Do a search on YouTube or in PinkBike Tech Tuesday's. The only negatives I have is that you have to remove the grips in order to remove the levers (not that big of deal but still...) and pads are not top loading (boo!). Other than that they're damn good brakes!

Absolutely love the brake. The lever is so easy to pull and you have so much power at your at your disposal. You can literally stop on a dime. Its a great brake and I cant recommend it enough. I will defiantly buy another one as my next brakes.

these are the best brakes I have ever owned. They are supper powerful and feel great. You can't even compare them to anything from avid. I think they are even better than the 2013 saint brakes but the new ones are pretty good to.

Pros
Great stopping power, easy to bleed, low maintenance, easily adjustable

Cons
a bit pricy, I destroyed the lever after over a year of really hard riding.

been running these brakes both old and new versions for about 3 yrs and no complaints at all. tons of power, pretty good modulation but not quite as good as formula the one. Easy to set-up and bleed and maintenance free which is reason why they are my #1 choice. only drawback is that the levers are expensive to replace if you break one

very powerful brakes,VERY. never had any problems with these brakes.
i must admitt they are completely different to avid, easier to bleed, and you cannot feel the bite point as easy because they are more powerful.
the levers could have a bit more of a flick on the end so your fingers dont stay on as well

Better reliability and easier maintenance than avids and this applies to the XT's as well. Power is unlimited, modulation is spot on and adjustability is a snap. Worth the money. I've ditched 3 elixirs to put on Shimano brakes and have no regrets.

Since I do trial riding i need the brakes to be as sharp as possible and to not slip, this is exactly what these brakes offer. I really like how i can adjust the lever to how i prefer, but bleeding these brakes is a bit of a carry on.

Everything that they say about these brakes from pinpoint stopping to going over the bars the first time you use them is true. Brakes are the best out there.....tho pricy and backordered every where, you get what you pay for 10 fold.

Has plenty of stopping power and doesn´t seen to overheat so easyly. The feel is great and you can adjust the handle just the way you like it. The brakes also look super sexy! I´d say that these are the best brakes shimano has done since those old four piston XT´s back in the days.

The only problem that I´ve had is that the rear brake started to leak from the joint of the brake caliber. I opened the caliber to see if there was any broken seals etc. but everything seemed to be in order. Then in bleeded the brakes wiht mineral oil and now it seems to work ok again and doesn´t feel like it´s leaking. Weird stuff... But if it leaks again, quarantee will take care of it.

With these brakes you get most value for your money!

Keep the lever throw short for best modulation. If the lever is way out the servowave will make your brakes really touchy.
