Now I'm curious, who here puts their sunglass arms over the helmet strap? I ride with the arms under the strap.

 Literally not one person

The same guys who wear those glasses.

Depends on how the straps fit on the helmet. If they go right into the meat of the shell foam, like most MTB helmets, then glasses under straps. If they go under the foam to an anchor inside somewhere, like most road helmets, then glasses over straps. This helmet looks like the straps are "road like" since the straps are anchored to the inside of the helmet, making the straps sit right against your temple.

Roadies - I think it is one of those inane "rules".
  • 3 0
Pretty sure mine go over, then the ends annoyingly tuck under the rear-ratchet bits that go over your ears... Will have to check in the mirror now you've raised it as a 'thing' LOL
  • 4 3
The bigger question is how you actually noticed that
  • 3 0
or puts the helmet strap over their ear.

 Roadies, it's a thing.

See Rule 37: The arms of the eyewear shall always be placed over the helmet straps. No exceptions. This is for various reasons that may or may not matter; it’s just the way it is.
  • 3 2
After you have a stack and your helmet straps snap the arms off your glasses is when people usually start putting the straps under.
  • 5 0
@dmclemens: But look how much the strap balloons out beneath the sunglasses arm. Sure doesn't seem like arm over the strap was necessary nor the most comfortable. Plus the 2nd model has the same set up AND googling I see several previous 100% model shots set up the same way.

I think it's a 100% that they don't want their 100% sunglasses logo covered up by a strap during photoshoots...
  • 2 0
@stiingya: could be. Could also be that dude has his adjusters over his ear instead of under his ear lobes like all us regular folk. Not trying to make a war out of all this, just pointing out that “road” helmets and “mtb” helmets have different strap anchoring points that dictate sunglass over/under orientation and this helmet has straps that connect inside the helmet rather than at the bottom edge like most “mtb” helmets have for the last decade or so.
  • 2 0
@jdrsiff: we've been doing that for 100+ years. why change that?
  • 1 0
@savagelake: yeah saw that too. the straps (in the first pic) are adjusted totally wrong
  • 2 0
I've once heard it was more for safety : in case of crash your glasses fly instead of staying on your face. So, if they break, the glasses won't go in your eyes...
But I am not sure how much of that is true (and not sure I want to try Wink )

@Aqui: when you try and report, we'll all know

 guilty!
  • 3 0
@djyosh: guilty as charged. Arms over straps, keeps the wind from flapping the strap.

@dmclemens: So your saying this is a road helmet...? Smile

It puts the arm over the strap, or else it gets the hose again!

I see what they did there. That's exactly $1 for every 1% of that hemet.

 The visor looks 100% useless
  • 3 0
Didn't you read... "A multi-point adjustable visor designed for maximum visor and goggle stowage, to accommodate all conditions."

That's like the swiss army knife of visors right there!!! Smile
  • 3 1
Looks like you got in a crash and the visor is out of position 100% of the time you wear it.
  • 1 1
@DoubleCrownAddict: that one wasnt as good.

"active cooling"? What marketing bs is that? You mean vents? That's passive cooling. Active cooling would imply some type of powered fan and batteries.
  • 5 0
you must be active to feel the cooling, duh

Same agency that did the Toyota MTB ad make this?

Some riders will get sweaty no matter what, see Eddie Masters' stories for occasional examples. We don't get enough air flow on slow climbs for one.
Are there any companies that manage the inevitable sweat better? Is it thinner pads? or maybe thicker? or shaped ones to help the sweat run down the temples instead the middle of the face? Different materials on the front of the helmet?

Helmet seems too small for him and too large for her.
Is it one size fits all?
  • 1 0
@IntoTheEverflow yeah I was gonna say, they chose those angles for him because that helmet is sitting way up high.
  • 4 0
 How many grams is "lightweight"?
  • 2 0
 Not on website either...?
What's the lightest enduro helmet we'd actually wear...spesh ambush maybe?
  • 2 0
@jrocksdh: so far ambush is the best I've found, I'm always checking when a new "lightweight" helmet drops. Heavier helmets my neck feels it after longer rides
  • 1 0
@WoodenCrow: yup. Only drawback to the spesh is that no mips or similar...?
  • 1 0
@jrocksdh: I just saw the new ambush has "MIPS SL", hopefully still effective despite lighter weight
  • 5 1
 Finally a nice affordable helmet
  • 3 0
The model name looks more like "altic" on all the visors. Maybe they cut off the bottom portion to keep the price down?
  • 6 4
I'm 100% sure I will not be buying any of these products. Fkn Celium shorts. One and done.
  • 2 0
What was the issue? Apart from being in between sizes, those shorts are nice.
  • 1 0
@jclnv: Outer button pulled through the one layer of material it was pressed into, adjusters were absolutely useless/pointless/ineffective, sizing was way off and stretched out even further after wearing a few times. Lesson learned
  • 1 0
I've got the boa shorts and wear them off the bike almost daily. So nice and light with zippered pockets.
  • 3 0
black helmet is instant death under direct sun in hot climate...
  • 1 0
They make a pure white one as well... it looks terrible but in an endearing way
  • 1 0
Just bought one. It’s comfy af. Visor has to positions depending on what look your going for.
  • 2 5
Or you could adjust the visor to best block sun and trail debris while riding...??

Wait, your right, anyone buying 100% is only posing anyway...

Would you weigh it for us?
  • 3 0
 That thing 100% hideous
  • 2 0
But most mountain bike helmets are... it's crazy. Even the ones that are cool looking end up making you look like a bobble head once they are being worn...

I guess that's why the HUGE sunglasses, so no one recognizes you wearing that stuff... Smile Smile Smile
  • 1 0
@stiingya: ya, then the top of sunglasses hit the helmet...daaaang it
  • 2 0
Did they really call it SmartShock? K2 lawyers will be in touch.
  • 1 0
The word "altis" is used to describe a person that jumps into the air. Nice marketing tip.
  • 2 0
Looks to sit high on his dome
  • 5 7
"A multi-point adjustable visor designed for maximum visor and goggle stowage, to accommodate all conditions." Please just stop with this. It's a half shell there is absolutely no need for goggles and a half shell.
  • 14 0
What about Turtles and a half shell? Necessary?
  • 7 0
I only have one good eye left. Goggle are the best way to keep me from going blind. I also wear a half shell. So...no reason?
  • 3 0
@SkullsRoad: wow that's awesome you can still ride trails. My dad has both eyes still but some pretty rough eye conditions that make him very uncomfortable on the trails but he still loves riding the roads. Not knowing myself I always thought when you lost an eye it really affected depth perception and to a degree spacial awareness. Thanks for proving me wrong on both my thoughts.
  • 1 0
 @smartyiak: absolutely jajaja
  • 2 0
@lifeofloon: It does at first but given time most peoples brains adapt to the single side. I had an orbital blow-out fracture (from a knee to the eye playing rugby), that gave me double vision for about three years and limited single eye movement after that. I don't let if effect me but I do value my vision more.
  • 2 0
@lifeofloon: maybe that's why I crash a lot. Or at least I have something to blame.
  • 6 0
One more thing. I stopped judging how people use their safety gear a long time ago. I was surfing and saw a guy wearing a helmet and joked about how unnecessary it was in the water. The guy next to me said he wears it because he had a serious brain injury and wearing one is the only way he gets to do what he loves. I learned my lesson that day.
  • 1 0
Guess I would need to try one on. I can't tell if I'm yea or nay.
  • 1 0
Why would they hide half of the product they are trying to sell to you lol
  • 1 0
 ugly as hell!!
